We were at Veteran's Park in Culver City (CA) this morning and I am pleased to say there was a very nice nanny there. I don't know her name but the little boy was blonde, blue-eyed, almost 2 and named Daschiel. He was a very cute, happy, polite boy who was having a great time. the nanny was very involved with him, teaching him things, watching him closely, playing with him and treating him like her own child. If she didn't have black hair and brown eyes, I'd have thought they were mother & son. She even gave him a hug & kiss. So, whoever Daschiel's parents are, if you are reading this, you are raising an adorable, polite little child with the help of a great nanny!
Ok, I can undersrand how one might overhear a child's name, but how did *you* know how to spell Daschiel? Was he wearing a Jersey with his name on the back?
ReplyDeleteUmmm.. Daschiel's nanny wrote this..like anyone would know how to spell that name.. also, was she gazing into the nanny's eyes or what? Call me cynical, but it doesn't ring true.
ReplyDeleteTo the two previous posters. What on earth makes you think that there is only one spelling for that name? Have you never heard of Dashiell Hammet? He is a very famous write....and personally, were it me, I would have spelled the name this way. Such cynics among us. LOL.
ReplyDeleteso i googled dashiel and they corrected the spelling for me.

well if this kid was named after the poet, the name is NOT spelled write. And not spelled right according to google. What is with you people? There are great nannies out there. Yes. There. Are.
ReplyDeleteNot to take away from a good nanny siting-but, I know a lot of dark haired, dark eyed women who gave birth to blonde children.
ReplyDeleteOh my gawd! Are you people so bitchy and jaded that you have to find fault with a GOOD nanny sighting? What? You can't admit that there ARE some good nannies out there? I repeat myself. This site is a JOKE. It should be called ihatenannies.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGreat sighting. Nice change on here. Not to get off the subject, but alot of people ask me if my son is my child. They say he doesn't look anything like me. Which hurts my feelings at times.

ReplyDeleteIt should be called ihatenanniesandthemomswhohirethem.com
Op, nice post, thanks.
I have dark brown eyes and nearly black hair and my husband has brown hair and hazel eyes; our daughter is platinum blonde with blue eyes and our son is platinum blonde with hazel eyes. So...your theory about why this could not be her mother doesn't hold water. But great sighting either way.
ReplyDelete9:33...you are so right. I am blonde..both my kids are dark haired and dark skinned. Hubby is Welsh with dark hair. I suppose people may have thought I was just the babysitter.\
ReplyDeleteI think many of the posters (responders) are far too critical. I think it is great when I see a good nanny sighting. Working moms are for the most part terrifed when leaving their kids...but for petes sake...its often not a choice they can make. Those same kids have to eat and have a roof over their heads. Should single parent moms for instance...have to go on welfare to appease the SAHM's on this site??
ok...now we are spell checkers?? Come on people....do something constructive with your day.
ReplyDeleteyes, this could be a sighting of a mom and her son. But, on the chance this is a good nanny sighting, I hope his parents see this.
ReplyDeleteGreat sighting! OP, skip the genetic engineering, it is more complex than it seems.
ReplyDeleteYou really can't tell whether somebody is the mom or the nanny by physical resemblance alone. For one thing, there is such a thing as adoption. For another, biologically-related people don't always resemble each other closely. Take me: dark brown hair, very dark brown eyes, not particularly fair skin. Husband's coloring is essentially the same. Three biological kids: one a pale redhead with blue eyes and freckles, one a blonde with dark brown eyes, one with medium-brown hair and green eyes. All from the same gene pool!
ReplyDeleteI am surprise to hear that a nanny is been nice to a child. Thanks. But, my niece is a fine black woman, very dark skin, with thick black hair and has a daughter who is half white. People in the park always assume that she is a nanny and look at her every move with her daughter. If she said something to the child like "stop doing that" then she becomes a BAB nanny who is yelling at the child. Then as soon as they find out that she's her mother, then she suddenly becomes a GOOD mother who is just proctecting her child.
ReplyDeleteSo, the little boy name Daschiel with his good nanny could either be his nanny or his mother.
a half white child is still half black, so I don't understand what kind of places your niece is hanging out where people cannot imagine the lineage of the child.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I just wanted to suggest that no one reading this post should think of using Dashiel in any spelling as a name for their son. I know how impressionable you all can be and I want to stop it before it starts.
i orginally posted this nanny sighting and for one thing, we have friends with a child named dash-sorry, i spelled it wrong. but it's somewhat of a common name among certain cirlces on the westside of los angeles. he's about the third or fourth kid i've met around here named that born in the past few years.
ReplyDeletei can promise you i am definitely NOT the nanny herself, just an observer. i forgot now all the reasons how i even knew she was the nanny but to be blunt about it, he was dressed in sort of expensive rich-kid clothes (brand new janie & jack)and had a brand new looking stroller. she was not in the latest fashion, just in normal clothes, the kind you'd see a nanny wearing (or that *I* would wear) not trend-setting typical westside moms wear. another clue is that she had a accent, iirc, a spanish one, and i didn't understand her at first when she said the name. if you're saying your own child's name that you picked out, you generally pick a name you can pronounce very clearly, so it's not hard for people to understand you.
so, people, we just have a nice nanny. sorry to spoil people's day who think i am actually the nanny, but i'm not and if i was an attention seeking nanny (what would they have to gain, a pat on the back?), i would have "remembered" more details for the parents to be sure it was "me", like "my" name!
O.P. just ignore the nasty comments posted out there. Just a bunch of bored people with nothing to do.
