Alcatrazz Ride at Six Flags Park in NJ

Received Tuesday, August 7, 2007
I saw this happen at the Six Flags In New Jersey, mid afternoon yesterday, (8/6).
A large boned, sturdy gal with dark and curly hair was with a fair child with lighter brown hair. They were talking outside of the roller coaster ride. The gal was telling the child that he was "such a baby" and she was "tired of riding baby rides" and "wouldn't have come if she knew the day was going to suck so bad". The person talking was about 30 and the person she was talking to was about 6 or 7. They were just outside of the and indicating the Alcatrazz ride which the adult female wanted to go on. I don't think this was a mother or an older sister, only a selfish nanny would berate a child like that in an attempt to get what she wanted. The nanny a NY Mets t-shirt and jean shorts. The boy had on one of those life is good looking shirts in a khaki green.

  1. "only a selfish nanny"-wow-what a comment! yeah-because only nannies are bad people.

We all know all mothers are perfect and older sisters never say bad things to younger siblings-what a moron you are!

  2. Taking a child to an amusement park is about the child, right? At that age?

Even if frustrated, why take it out on the child?

  3. What hole did you crawl out of? Parents and siblings can be just as mean as Nannys. Sometimes even MORE so.
Now on to the subject ... emotional/verbal abuse can be as damaging as physical abuse ... but I'm not sure this was either. Maybe just a spoiled, pissy Nanny? She would need a stern talking to by the Parents of this kid, if they were to run across this post.

  4. I agree with the lack of common sense when jumping to the conclusion it was a nanny... Could have been anyone... A family friend, an aunt, a cousin....

Alot of people visit amusment parks such as those while on vacation, they could be anyone from anywhere, but it still doesnt make it ok.

  6. As parent in the tri state area, I would not allow anyone to take my child to Six Flags at age 6. There are not enough rides appropriate for a young child there. Was he even tall enough to be allowed on the ride? Kiddieland or Sesame Place are more appropriate. Why would the parents allow their son to go there?

  7. Someone who says she "wouldn't have come" doesn't strike me as a nanny, more as a petulant guest.

  8. Yeah... The only way to scare a child about rides is to berate them and selfishly peer pressure them into riding before they are ready. Give them time and they will ride when they are ready.

  9. 3:38 yes thats what i was thinking. i also cant believe the whole this has to be a selfish nanny statement. this sounds like someone who went for the wrong reason. she thought she was going to have the time of her life and wasn't thinking its not about her but HIM and the fun HES having. the original poster sounds ignorant. its obvious the person with him has no experience being around kids if she thought it was going to be about going on adult rides. i cant believe the postings of some of these people. i just want to slap them!

  10. it could have been a nanny. the kid sees the commercials. the nanny says she will take him. they go. the kid rides are unfulfilling to her. she wants to do more than shake her big bones ass in public. she wants the thrill of the ride.

  12. maybe the nanny had been with the child for a couple of years and they had talked about going and when they got there, the kid, renigged on going on some of the rides. maybe the nanny temporarily lost it and was pissed. what? parents don't lose it and say devestating things to their children all the time?

  13. This doesnt sound like a nanny to me...more like someone who was invited to go and now regrets it.

  14. Sounds to me like a babysitter who agreed to do a day trip, but maybe she usually sits at home. I babysat for a family with two girls under 10 and we went on their season passes all the time. It can be overwhelming the first time, not that I'm excusing her in any way because she is totally in the wrong here. But I would guess this is a babysitter who agreed to more than she could handle.

  15. This sounds much more like an older sister, or stepsister given the age, who got stuck babysitting than a nanny.

  16. We'll never know who it really was, but we do know that she sounds like a bizznitch.

  18. This woman sounds like a disgruntled relative who bit off more that she could chew. My cousin always complained to other family members that I was not letting her spend more time with my twin toddlers, so my husband and I invited her over for breakfast and had her spend as much quality time with our twins as possible. 30 minutes into the visit, she was clearly getting frustrated by the twins' demands and energy level. She excused herself and left less than an hour into the visit, and never complained again.

  19. 1:21, LOL, that's classic.

Just had a spat w/my (childless) sis who opined it wasn't very nice of my hubby to leave me at the ER waiting room where it took me almost 6 hours to get stitches for a bad cut, suggesting he and my 3 year old should have hung around to keep me company. I'd like to see her keep him entertained for one hour in that situation!

  20. Cali mom, you sound like a real mom. I too dare not bore a toddler. Their world is busy enough, and their brains are churning faster than they can speak, so they will get bored to tears. I had an overnight Emergency Room visit a few weeks ago, and my hubby wanted to come along with our 2 year old. I suggested they stay home and I'd ask the ER staff on duty to call him if need be (if I couldn't communicate).

Once we become parents we tend to think of the world as a whole, not just our needs alone. Unless it's childbirth, or major surgery, we just tough it out. If my husband & my 2 year old had come to the ER with me, all three of us would have ended up in tears.
