Cobble Hill Park - NY
I saw a nanny hit a child in Cobble Hill Park today. She had a bright turquoise visor. The child had on bright blue shark crocks. He looked about 5 and had a sister about 4. The nanny tripped over one of the iron chains around the grass oval in the center of the park while carrying him. She then smacked him twice, said it was his fault that she tripped and strapped him into the stroller (pink maclaren) for a time out - which lasted at least 20 minutes. The child was shamed in front of at least 20 on-lookers. He was miserable and kept sobbing that it wasn't his fault - which was true. If anyone knows this family please let the parents know what happened!

ReplyDeleteWhy is she carrying a 5 year old? Why is a 5 year old buckled in a stroller, or in a stroller in the first place? This sounds like a bad situation for the kids involved. I hope the parents can address this situation and the 5 year old wasn't hurt when they tripped.
ReplyDeleteCan you provide more details, OP?
ReplyDeleteit sounds like he was buckled into his sister's (the 4 yr olds) stroller as punishment. I do wonder why she was carrying him, but she tripped, blamed him and it looks like she strapped him in the stroller (that isn't his) to be mean to him.
ReplyDeleteThe sick part of this story is that there were 20 on-lookers and NOT EVEN ONE person stepped in to advocate for the poor child. What a sad society we live in for people to not want to "get involved." If I were a spectator, I would most definitely have helped this poor boy. I would not have let his nanny out of my sight for one minute until I got some info from him to tell his parents. It is unacceptable for a nanny to lay her hands on the child she is watching. Shame on her.
