.... WHAT?!

Feature:
1) Babysitter needed (Chicago)
I need a loving and caring nanny for two days a week and probably twice a month on Saturday (Monday and Thursday). Must be reliable and punctual. I could only afford $150 a week for the three days and also some days you would get to live earlier. Please answer to this post if you are interested. Thank you

  4. Mad scientist I believe what' s wrong
With ad number 1 is that you get to
    Live rather then leave.

  5. Oh, how could I introduce foreign babysitters? Probably in the philippines? There's a lot in here who wants the job.

  6. CD:

I think it's the signature of "Desperate Mom."

Why would anyone write that? It makes one sound ignorant.

  7. I think the problem with number 3 is the
fact that she works 80 hours a week. She
Say's she is a single mom, so not only
does the kid not see his dad(guessing) he
    also doesn't see his mom.

  8. I don't think anything is wrong with number 3. She's a desperate mom seeking help. She works 80 hours a week which is unfortunate, but lets not make bold assumptions about whether or not the kid sees his mom and dad, implying he's neglected. For all we know, she HAS to work 80 hours a week in order to survive. Times are tough and none of us are in any position to judge this woman based on this ad alone. We don't know the circumstances.

  9. And as far as the Desperate mom signature...do you understand the meaning of the word "ignorant?" How does that make her sound ignorant? Overwhelmed perhaps, but ignorant? There are plenty of single, struggling parents that aren't ignorant, just in way over their heads. Asking for help does not make you stupid. In fact, being so arrogant to think you DON'T need help, in turn setting up the potential for neglect, is more "ignorant" than admitting you're desperate and in need of assistance.

  10. when posting an ad for childcare, if you clearly state that you are "desperate" it makes you sound ignorant. it is an unprofessional term to refer to yourself as in an ad for an employee.

Jackie, it is possible to post an ad when you are desperately seeking help and not spell out the fact that you are nervous or desperate. It is completely unnecessary and foolish to write that in the ad.

  11. I am in a bad mood, so I am just going to say this: SHUT UP, "Desperate"

  12. #20-can't afford the one kid she's already got, so she's going to have another baby? That's smart.

wow you're super articulate and stuff. I'm going to say this "grow up."

  14. Sometimes when someone sends me an Ad, they clearly explain why they think it should be picked. Now as I have said before, rarely do I turn an Ad down. An example of one that would be tossed is if a Mom wants to hire a Nanny for 45hrs/wk for $9.00 an hour. Yes, in most areas that is low but considering the economy the way it is, I imagine quite a few would accept that pay, so I would not put it up.

Concerning Ad #3, it was posted for a couple of reasons. One of course was the exhorbitant amount of hours she had to work. The other was that she chose to use the word desperate. Not because I think she sounds ignorant, but seriously, can you imagine someone unsavory reading her Ad? The woman has to work 80 hrs a week and is desperate... one with bad intentions could see her as an easy target... and that's all I'm saying.

  15. Umm...I think the "desperate" was just a cutesy little signature to make the ad more personal. I really don't see what the big deal is. And again desperate, I have to ask, do you understand the definition of the word ignorant? I honestly don't know what you're looking for here, but ignorant isn't it. She's posting an ad on craigslist for childcare...a nanny for her CHILD. She's not sending out her resume to some higher up corporate type. A certain level of professionalism is appropriate, but really, lighten up? I'm not sure if, as a nanny seeking a job, I'd even respond to some stuffy, uptight ad from what appears to be a cold mother or father. And on the same token, if I were hiring a nanny, I'd want her to sound fun and enthusiastic. Literate, well spoken and organized, of course, but still friendly.
While I disagree with MPP's interpretation, at least it makes SENSE and I can understand how someone could percieve it in the way she and others may have.

  17. I think anyone that's been on this blog for awhile can vouche for me that I use ONE moniker. Pick another source of online BS drama.

  18. I have been around here a while and Jacqui is a total drama queen. She likes to dish it out but she can't take it.

  19. You're right. I can't take it. I am CRAZY with rage right now. Stop me before I do something destructive.

  20. i really hate it when people want others to feel sorry for them and pay the nanny crap for work. That would be like their job saying well we can't really pay you but you need to work your ass off for nothing. single moms are the worst. They think people should feel sorry for them and give them things either cheap or free. What a crock!
