First, here are the pictures of the disgusting house I used to work in and what I had to look at everyday. There are more but these are the most important ones, I thought:

Update: (Original post is located here)
I called MSPCA, because I was concerned for the animals. They said they have 7 days to separate where the dogs eat from where they poop and to clean up PROPERLY. (which should be OUTSIDE), And they also said they are obligated to call CPS about the children living in the same conditions as the dogs. Who knows where it will go from there. Hopefully they will just simply be forced to rip up their rugs. and get hardwood floors if they ever want animals again and especially if they want their kids. It's not that hard to hire a dog walker/trainer. Or just dont have dogs and kids if you can't keep things sanitary. It's a simple concept. Don't take on more than you can handle. I feel like things are being delt with properly, and I hope things work out for everyone involved. Thanks for everyones support!
we should thank u. Those children could have gotten really sick (they still could) and those poor animals. Those children are very lucky to have a nanny like u. Great Job!!!
ReplyDeleteSO disgusting I get sick everytime I look at these.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, the laundry situation isn't that huge of a deal, but in combination with the rest of it... I think I feel my breakfast coming back up. That's nasty.
ReplyDeleteGood on you for calling it in, but I doubt the parents are going to face any real consequence if they clean the place up when ordered to do so. Good luck with your new position.
I dont want theym to face any serious consequences. I just want the children and pets to live in a healthy environment.
ReplyDeleteGood for you. It takes courage to take action like that without knowing exactly what could come of it.
ReplyDeleteI often have a pile of dirty clothes sitting at the foot of the washing machine. Is that a big deal? The rest of it, I'll grant you, is gross.
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the garbage can full of cups?
ReplyDeleteThe laundry doesn't seem bad - but that is in the kitchen right next to the kitchen table. So it is disgusting. And the box of cups and stuff was there one morning I got there because they didnt feel like putting the clean dishes away. so they put them in a box instead and waited for me to come to put them away plus the clean dishes in the dishwasher and THEN put the dirty dishes that were piled up in the dishwasher. Some job, huh?
ReplyDeleteI have a question. Were these parents gone all day because they worked? You were their nanny correct? Not that it is the nannies responsibility, but if you were there all day there shouldn't have been poop or pee on the carpet. If you worried about the kids, did you clean it up? Did you get some carpet cleaner and let it soak and then clean it up?
ReplyDeleteI mean if I was there for 8-10 hours a day with the kids (who I cared about) I would have cleaned it up. It may not be my job but I don't want the kids crawling in it. If you had enough time to snap a pic of it, you had enough time to pick it up.
Who doesn't have laundry in their laundry room? I still think this has less to do with the house and more to do with the nanny and the parents.
Valid question:
ReplyDeleteMy job was actually to keep the kids out of the house as much as possible. Actually just the 2 year old the parents were responsible for taking the 11 y/o and 4 y/o to school. So every morning I would pack a lunch and we would head out and do something. They parents were home more than I was. She is ironically a psychologist and came home between patients. When we got home at the end of the day however, there was dog poop and the stink of pee everywhere. And the mom and 2 other kids laying on the floor/couches etc. (the couches were unsanitary too because one of the dogs would have poop stuck to its butt all the time and then would sit on the couch) And I did NOT sign up to clean up after dogs. And yeah eventually the poop did get picked up but what does that mean, that it's okay? There is more bacteria on those carpets from the poop and pee than in a random gas station toilet.
Well all in all I don't think that this is CPS worthy. But I don't know what the whole place looks like either.
ReplyDeleteIt strikes me odd though that someone who makes good money wouldn't hire someone to train their dogs, or someone to come clean up after them.
Did you ever sit down with her and tell her point blank, that her house was disgusting and that you were worried about the kids rolling around in dog piss/shit? Especially after you left, maybe send an email, or a letter?
Maybe she doesn't think that its not that bad. Maybe she needs someone else's point of view.
I brought it up so many times. I lost count. That's what made me leave. In my two weeks notice it was the first reason I gave. I gave them a few fliers for dog walkers too. They were insulted, though. But that's their problem not mine. I didn't call CPS. I figured I would call for the animals though and let them take it from there and do what they needed to do. Also her son, is most likely autistic and has never been evaluated. I hope by now he has because he needs help. I did do lots of educational stuff with him. We went to the library all the time and I would read with him and we could practices colors letters and numbers. I really just wish the best for these kids. I don't want to come off as a petty ex-nanny who wants revenge. I just want things for them to be okay, even though I don't like the family.
ReplyDeleteWell I hope too that the mom gets the hint, and cleans up. Hope the kids are well too. Good luck at you new job. I hope its cleaner then the last. :P
ReplyDeleteMy new job is a great fit. It's perfect! Thank you very much for your well wishes! :)
ReplyDeletei am glad you called the MSPCA the animals really do need a clean safe environment.
ReplyDeletedid the kids ever have playdates at the house? they will probally get teased by other kids about their filthy house
ReplyDeleteI am really glad you called the MSPCA! Of course I am concerned about the kids, but it almost sounds worse for the dogs (at least the kids have a nanny and it sounds like are properly cared for, these dogs definitely are not.) And if it is bad for both, CPS will get involved. Great job Andrea- we need more concerned citizens like you!
ReplyDeleteewwwwwwwwwwww
ReplyDeleteI despise people who are mean to kids and people who are cruel to animals.
ReplyDeleteNot take the dogs for a walk and letting them eat around where they poop is, to me, animal cruelty.
I am glad you did something. Many people wouldn't care.
The children will have a cleaner house and the dogs will be treated with more respect.
Thank you!
