I can't get over the mother/daughter daycare where the daughter is 17 and the mother is 25. That must be a typo, right? She wasn't 8 when she had the girl was she?? Crazy!! :)
ReplyDeleteCould be an adopted child, step child or foster child.I am now 37 and my adopted son is 27. I was 20 when we adopted him out of Foster Care at age 10.
ReplyDeletelove the "looking for daycare in my Mom"...seriously, is there no quick edit before these people place their ads?
ReplyDeleteI'm actually looking for daycare in my dad. Maybe we could do share care?
ReplyDelete#1 "I would like this to be in my mom.." Huh?
ReplyDelete#2 She is 17 and her mom is 25? So mom gave birth at the ripe old age of 8?
#6 $450 for a week for round the clock care?
#9 13 years old? They want a sitter who is 13??
#23 $100 a week for 6 kids!!!! WTF? You ain't kidding!
#24 dependable and experienced for $10?? Yah, she may get a junkie!
#26 Do they know #24?
#27 with times being the way they are I'd take this one
Good point, BLB!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the CL postings, thanks MPP! I needed my fix!! :)
once again: thank you for offering me food from your refrigerator as compensation. my naked, yet full belly and i can be found under the tree at the park next to the beach because we cannot afford clothing or housing - but at least we have food!
ReplyDeleteWait, I'm confused. What's wrong with the Mercer Island one (8)?
ReplyDeleteBlythe
ReplyDeleteI think that might have been sent in by someone from Seattle who just rolled their eyes at that sort of 'stereotypical' Mercer Island mom. If you want to get paid well to obey this woman's every whim, it'd be a great job, but it'd probably drive most professional nannies crazy.
That and having someone else 'attachment parent' your child seems a little strange to me.
Blythe
ReplyDeleteI think geekgirl nailed it, but I also got a kick out of the kids' names: Seven and Nine?? What is the Mom into, Numerology or something? It isn't always about being a bad post, sometimes it's just a little funny! ;)
MPP: you crack me up!!!!!
ReplyDeletelol
MM
ReplyDeleteDitto, girl!
I think the Mercer Island Mom was referring to her kids by their ages, rather than using their real names in the ad.
ReplyDeleteOk. But then why spell it out? Why not just say 7 and 9? Going by your reasoning, if you ask me, it makes the mom look EVEN MORE strange!
ReplyDeleteOh great! I really want to watch 2 kids whose mom brags that one is a cheater and the other is a bossy brat. No, thanks!
ReplyDeleteIn the written language, it's proper to spell out numbers one through ten, and use numerals for 11 - infinity.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'....
Well Blossom's best friend was Six.
ReplyDeleteIt was.
Oh for cripes sake! It's an ad! Who would actually think to spell out the numbers? And really, who even cares? The woman sounds like a nutbag.
ReplyDeleteMinuteMuggle, I used to love Blossom, lol. And my brother had a crush on Sex, um, I mean Six!
Hahaha ok, I definitely agree about the MI mom being stereotypical. I just didn't realise that there were enough Seattle folk on here to appreciate the stereotype!
ReplyDeleteI love the clearly typoed (but still ridiculous 25 year old mother with a 16 year old daughter ad. But I really skimmed through most of the others because they're kinda the same at this point. I miss the crazy stripper/christian ads!
ReplyDeleteBut since when is there a Columbus, Maryland? Was that supposed to be MO? Or Columbia?
Or is there actually a Columbus in Maryland (I've lived here 20 years and never heard of it or been there!)
Keen Observer,
ReplyDeleteYOU'RE the one making it into a big deal! YOU'RE the one who asked why somebody would spell it out and not use the numerals. I'm just telling you WHY.
If somebody's habit is to do just that, why would they do it any differently just because it's an ad and not a doctoral thesis? Most of us use only one (1) writing style. And, why would somebody go out of their way to write incorrectly, just so they could dumb it down for sake of not looking weird to people like you?
My favorite is the $400 for 6 kids!! So each of the 3 families is essentially paying about $2.75 per hour for a Nanny! Wow...
ReplyDeleteSide note, is a Nanny share between 3 families legal? It seems like the unlicensed daycares that CLers are always complaining about.
Watching 2 one year olds and 2 three year olds in a pool sounds like it deserves a lot more money that this!
"I also got a kick out of the kids' names: Seven and Nine??"
ReplyDeleteMaryPPills, you are seriously too stupid to live.
ChristOnACracker-
ReplyDeleteThats a little harsh don't you think?
christonacracker,
ReplyDeleteyou are the idiot. totally uncalled for. try posting something worthwhile. Better yet, just go away.
Re: Seven and Nine
ReplyDeleteIf it's good enough for House, it's good enough for Mercer Island mom :)
That last one is crazy!!! Any chance this posting is actually an in-home daycare looking for an assistant? They said the situation has been in place for A YEAR! How would they find someone to do that?
#18-how scary is this person? Looking for daycare for the next day (so obviously won't know the person or check them out) and not only is she seeking care for her 2 children, but also one she babysits! I would be FURIOUS if my babysitter found someone from CL to watch my child. So UNSAFE it's not even funny!! And it's for her to go to a doctors appt-ummm, how about rescheduling since you don't have childcare available???
ReplyDeleteUm, by "sterotypical mercer Island mom" do you mean, oh, a Jew? :/ Seriously, not cool, guys. You all complain about the ads where people offer $2 an hour and now you're bitching over what is probably a great position for a nanny because of your own prejudices. Ick.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what religion the Mercer Island mom is, and I'm not saying that the stereotype necessarily applies to ANY of the people on the island at all. It's simply a stereotype that exists, and I always find it funny when the rare incidences show up that support stereotypes. I have many good friends on MI, and have spent many hours there. Stereotypes exist everywhere, and can be funny depending how how you look at them. I have absolutely nothing against Mercer Islanders!
ReplyDeleteSAHM,
ReplyDeleteI have nannied for people in the past who expect you to get your own replacement if you are going to be out for any reason. Perhaps the parents are the ones who told her to place the ad. You are a SAHM, so you obviously are naive when it comes to parents who work 24/7 at high stress jobs and to the ways they treat their caregivers. They can be quite inconsiderate at times. I would bet that the parents in this situation wouldn't mind that their caregiver is looking for a replacement or she would have gotten the day off.
Also, since you don't work, you have no idea what it is like to be a working mother in childcare. Just some food for thought. It's not really that easy to just "re-schedule." There are a million different situations out there. You just don't know so don't judge. Who knows what the dr's appt is for? You have no idea. Some appointments are very difficult to re-schedule, depending on your medical needs and what type of an appt. it is.
formernanny,
ReplyDeleteVery true, where I live, a doctor's appointment can take two-three weeks to schedule and forget about the dentist, that has to be done six months ahead of time. Then, when they find a cavity in my daughter, it is another 6 months to have it filled.
So if you are very ill sometimes the only option is the emergency room and that is why I have tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt.
Despicable, but that's the way it is and has been for the seven years I have lived here. The city's population seems to double every few years and cannot sustain itself!
Lol, Where do you live that it is like this? It sounds terrible.
ReplyDeleteFormer Nanny,
ReplyDeleteI think it is a bit hypocritical to rather judgementally condescend to SAHM about being judgmental just because she is a SAHM. Try not to talk down to people. Food for thought.
Christ On A Cracker:
ReplyDeleteI am a little late in posting this to you-anyone want to help with my computer fund? Donations are always accepted....*LOL*
If it weren't for Jane, we wouldn't have this blog. Jane felt that MPP was a good choice to run the blog, and if it weren't for MPP's hardwork and time, we wouldn't have WTF posted every week.
Apparently you don't understand that MPP isn't too stupid to live. You must be jealous of her for some reason.
Why don't you just go back under your rock from which you came? Join the Park Bench Nanny Club, since you proved that you have no reason to be on this blog.
jaqueline, if the shoe fits, wear it. just some food for thought.
