.... What?!
Actress with background in Education Needed as PT Nanny (Inwood/Wash Hts)
Actress with background in Education Needed Who can get dressed as a "police officer" in my home. Must be a strong authority figure in order to get my kid to get her homework done. She constrantly defies my authority to do homework. To the point where she is giving me an irregular heartbeat. At this time I have been denied health insurrance and so I am a single mom who CANNOT afford to get SICK. This situation is ruining my life, and I am so slow at work because I go to sleep at 1 and 2 am. TRYING TO GET HER TO DO HOMEWORK and its not working. & YES I have done everything from taking away TV etc.....I CANNOT LOOSE MY JOB AND THIS SITUATION MIGHT MAKE ME. I believe if she believes a COP is watching her do her homework, then she will do it. I am open to any other suggestions.

Just.. sad. People can afford to go out and party, but don't want to pay better for their children's care?
ReplyDeleteI especially love those Ads that say "my kid is sweet, wonderful, easy to take care of.... etc." - so that's a reason why you are cheap? Because the person won't have to work as hard? Give me a break!!!
These parents don't care what kind of danger they put their children in, especially those looking for someone to come and watch their kid TONITE!!
And the music teacher really pisses me off. She has a home AND a "beautiful studio". She can't be that broke! $40 a week??
the chicken pox party isnt really uncommon (or it used to be somewhat normal) its for people that want to avoid the vaccine and let their kids get it naturally.
ReplyDeleteMillows
ReplyDeleteThe chicken pox party, where uninfected children are exposed to others with chicken pox, is very controversial. Most Drs. think that's a bad idea but the older you are when you pick up the virus, the more side effects and complications you will suffer from. They understand a parent wanting to "get it out of the way" while their children are young.
One of my good friends was 30 yo before she got chicken pox and suffered from shingles because of it. She was in severe pain, and it took her several weeks to heal.
i know i figure that most people would send a very young child. my sister got shingles as a teen and it was awful :-(
ReplyDeleteOkay, who wants to bet that the kid in the first post will suffer life long trauma because the mom wants to hire a damn cop to scare the kid into doing their homework? All she will succeed in doing is making this kid cut school and turn to drugs and alcohol by the time she turns 12. Outrageous!
ReplyDeleteWow! Hiring a fake cop to make her daughter do homework? I've never heard of anything so stupid.
ReplyDeleteSome of these people wanting to pay ridiculously low amounts for childcare just sound clueless and/or in a really bad situation, like the poor minimum wage worker. But honestly, some of these people need to FIND A DAYCARE! They obviously cannot afford one-on-one care for their kids, and what on earth is wrong with a home or center daycare? It will probably be more than $10-25 a day, sure, but it will be less than even the cheapest nanny. Because please, no nanny is going to work for $10-25 a day. Maybe Grandma will do it for that much, if she's YOUR KID'S Grandma! lol!
ReplyDeleteI just see a lot of these CL-WTF ads from people who seem not to realize that they are not in the market for a nanny but need to find a good solid home daycare situation. Cheaper than a nanny, easier to find and probably better for their kids too.
Even here in the expensive city I live in you can get good daycare for 2 kids for $100 a week full time all meals included. That is what my friend pays and she is very happy with her daycare. And the daycare lady is happy because a) it's in her home, she makes the rules and b) she has a bunch of kids at a time so she is actually making a sort of OK wage.
What we really need IMO are subsidized sliding scale daycares, high quality with a standardized curriculum and teachers with a degree, like they have in France. No one has to worry about who they are leaving their kids with or how to pay for it and since it's not free, but sliding scale, they are not paying huge amounts of taxes for it either. Why can't we be more creative in this country? If we're going to have minimum wage jobs then we need safe places for the kids of min. wage workers to be.
Actually maybe she pays $150 for the 2 kids, not $100. Still a great deal IMO and home daycares probably charge less in more rural areas of the country.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the ones where the parents think the "nanny" will also do a flotilla of housework for what amounts to minimum wage or less, while caring for more than one kid. (Why would anyone want to do that?)
ReplyDeleteDon't any of these people realize that if the pay they are offering is not sufficient, they are likely to attract the kind of person who might just say, "screw this, it's only $10, I'm going home for the day," rather than someone who actually cares about kids? I'm not saying love has a price, but people with the sense to do this job right also have the sense to know they can make more than $10 a day!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. The cop one was just silly. That child has a mad person as a parent! holy crap!
ReplyDeleteWith my charges it actually does work to be like "okay, if you're going to misbehave, maybe I should all nanny Janice! She'll come over instead" (a person who isn't real...but they don't know that) who I told them was a mean nanny. Just the silly threat alone makes them straighten up and behave. If I were to actually get someone to pretend to be 'nanny janice' thats crossing the line! This lady is nuts to hire a fake cop lol, thats really stupid.
The chicken pox one doesn't surprise me, when I was little my cousin had chicken pox and her neighbor was sent over to catch it too. They spent the weekend together just so the little neighbor girl could get that over with. I guess there is some controversy there but really, that stuff is up to the parents. Personally, I would rather my kids (future kids as I don't have any) would get them as children then once they get older...hello shingles are way worse!!!
The one from liberty sounds fine except for the fact that they are having the three year old decide the payrate. Is that some expression I'm just not understanding???
Vampire, I don't think you should threaten your charges like that. If it is actually working, it means they think you actually might be capable of doing something like that (calling a mean nanny to come over and make them do something!). Not good! I sure wouldn't want a nanny of mine to threaten my kids that way.
ReplyDeleteAs for chicken pox, they have a vaccine now.
Too many vaccines! Whats wrong with getting the virus as a child?
ReplyDeleteMy sisters and I did. And we are fine.
Vaccines contain impure additives, and until something is done about that it is totally understandable that people would want to avoid them if they can.
ReplyDeleteVampire isn't threatening her charges - that's poo!! Seriously. And I think the lady who wants to hire a cop sounds desperate, and at her wits end. At least she cares about homework. Some parents would just throw their hands up.
And its not like she said she wants someone to act like a bad, scary cop...I've heard stupider things...from commenters on this site.
