nanny sighting logo This nanny did nothing but sit on a bench and talk on the phone, ignoring the child, who was desperately and sadly straining around to see the children playing in the sprinkler. I watched them for the full 30 minutes, and not once did the nanny interact with the child or engage him, nor did she let him out of the stroller to play. I don't believe she was being abusive, per se, but neglectful for sure. If you are the parent of this child, I recommend you get someone to follow your nanny and observe her closely. The child was a boy, looked to be about 18 - 20 months old, and Asian (or more likely, half-Asian). He rode in a blue Bugaboo Cameleon with a grey base and a black skip hop diaper bag. The nanny was black with a Caribbean accent, probably in her 40s. She had somewhat frizzy orangey brown hair in a ponytail. Attached are some pictures (not very good) that I got of them but it should be enough for the parent to recognize the child/nanny.

  1. You can see that poor baby straining to get out of the stroller very clearly in the 2nd pic. How sad. Nanny is a meanie.

  2. This is such a sad posting. Seeing it in words and in a photo is heart breaking. You can just tell that all this child wants to do is to go play. Poor little guy. I hope his parents see this.

  6. mr. disgusted: your post is about to get deleted. I will take the liberty of re-posting it for you. you can thank me later, loser.

    you wrote:
"Let me very clear about this, YOU PEOPLE ARE FUCKING TERRIBLE!

What gives you the right to report, and attempt to publicly humiliate these women who you feel are "mistreating" the children?
"Make sure the negro nurse lady don't hurt the chilren now."

This entire blog / website is made up entirely of racist people with much to much time on their hands.

You should all be ashamed. Insteading of hiring these women you obviously do not trust, stay home with your children.

    Sincerely,
    Mr. Disgusted"

Disgusted, you are very misguided and I'm willing to bet you are nawt hawt.

And where is your quote from, anyway? Your own sad and angry mind?

Why don't you go jump in a lake and cool off, K? Or grow some balls and post a blogger moniker so we can go to your blog and trash you fair and square. Oh...you don't have a blog? Good because it would probably be a piece of crap blog.

    Word.

  7. What boggles my mind is why that child just sits there without fussing. I am a mom of 3 and none of my children would tolerate sitting in a stroller for more than about 30-40 minutes. After that, they'd start fussing, screaming and completely melting down. Either I had 3 difficult kids or these charges of bench nannies are somehow conditioned (from birth I guess) that when they are in the stroller, nothing they can do will let them be released from confinement. I also think that the type of mom that hires these types of nannies is so wrapped up in her own life that she probably is happy that the kid doesn't fuss in the stroller on weekends (but many of these moms probably have weekend nannies too). I know a mother who has a bench nanny and I think she just chooses to look the other way

  8. i wonder why the nanny doesn't make her calls at home while the baby plays, so he can enjoy his time outside? i hope it's not because the parents don't want her to talk on the phone during work. i really hate that because sometimes we all need to make personal calls during work - the bank, insurance, dmv, doctor's offices, husband...etc. well, i can't assume that this is the case here. but just in case any parents made that rule, this is what would happen.

  11. I don't know. I am not going to jump on the nanny. The OP only observed this for 30 minutes. We really don't know if she let the child out after.
Sometimes, I would leave my son in the stroller like this. Especially, if we were waiting for one of our playdates to come by.

Has anyone ever taken their child out, and all of a sudden not feel well? Well it happens. This may be the case.

We don't know she may/or may not be a great nanny. This was only a 30 minute observation.
Yes, she was talking on the phone but to who? Her employer? Her family maybe an illness in the family?

  12. Hmmm...well I never left a child who was awake in the stroller at the park for any length of time...that's for sure. None of them would have sat still for a moment with sand, playground equipment and kids playing nearby. A park is for playing, and they knew this even as small toddlers. They would strain against the belt as soon as we arrived, and take off running for the sand the moment I let them out. Makes me wonder how many times this child has sat liek this in his stroller at the park...because kids who are used to playing at the park should be way too excited to be there to sit quietly and watch.

  13. I am the original poster, and they left the park after the thirty minutes, so they weren't waiting for a playdate. Additionally, I caught a bit of her conversation, and it was most definitely not with her employer.
