The willingness to kill bugs is imperative during the summer months. I only employ nannies who wouldn't think twice about taking off their sandle and slapping down fruit flies.
No, I was not the someone who mentioned the Jewish nanny. I just thought, as did others, that she was wrongfully attacked. Now someone is posting things about "designer-breed" nannies...
I didn't read the article, Mel, but I am assuming these nannies are all the rage because of their peaceful nature. They may be a safe bet for those who aren't quite sure how to weed out the monsters.
It's not the monks in the photos who are the nannies. It's the chick in the yellow, silly. Tibetan nannies wear whatever.... They don't walk around in full gear.
Are they in fashion like the "cockapoo" ( fashion breed of 2007 mix between cocker and poodle)?..people are nuts who cares if they are jewish , polish, jamaican or tibetan as long as they are GOOD nannies..
Interesting article and very interesting comment following it on the linked site.
In my city, Tibetan and Hispanic nannies seem to be the majority, in that order. I don't know anything about their religious beliefs, since I've never discuss that with them, but pretty much all of the Tibetan nannies seem to be VERY good with their charges.
The nanny (or "manny") I employed very briefly, before I ended up leaving my job altogether soon after my DS was born, was a Hungarian Buddhist, and a very staunch Tibet supporter. He was a great nanny, specialized in tiny new babies, and we'd looked very hard and we felt awful we had to let him go so soon after major fiasco with MY employers.
Love the comment- Venezuelan Nannies big in O9. Gawker is awesome!
ReplyDeletenow why would we specify buddhist nannies? wasn't someone someone lynched here about a week ago for referencing a jewish nanny?
ReplyDeleteDid you read the articles linked above???? Oh wait, you are one of those people that need "click here" written for you.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I read it. I love how "victims of religious oppression [are now] Hot new Children's accesory for fall!"
ReplyDeleteDisgusting! Victims = rich kids' accesory? WTF??? This is an entertaining, great read?
Somehow describing a woman as jewish was a crime.
You people are messed up.
Was that someone Y O U?
ReplyDeleteI read the article in the NY Observer. It's ludicrous. Brooklyn mother's appreciate the Zen these monks bring?
Still, it's topical and was a good read.

Make the "sandal" before the spelling police arrive.
ReplyDeleteI am concerned that they would be unable to bike with my dc without getting their garb tangled in the bicycles spokes.
ReplyDeleteTibetans are great with infants, so-so with older kids.

ReplyDeleteHmmm. This whole thing is such a joke. Is this really a trend?

ReplyDeleteI cant see a monk on the swings. Or playing frisbee. what is under those things? don't they spend a good deal of time chanting?
