Do you have a Brooklyn Heights nanny named Doma (or something like that)? She is Asian, chunky and took three kids to Chapin Park today, (7/20). The children were a girl 3ish (dk brn/dk brn) and two boys who are 5-ish (blond/blue and brown/?).
I was there for an hour and a half. For almost an hour, she sat on the bench talking with several nanny friends and NOT ONCE in that entire period looked over (her back was to her) to check on your dd (who is very pretty, btw). The boys were okay, because they are older and had each other. But your little girl sat there, looking very despondent, with a poop diaper on (she looked inside and told me), playing with no one, and just looking so sad. She seems more shy than your little boys and nanny was ignoring her the whole time. I suggested she go find her mother or nanny and she pointed her out (black shirt today) to me and went over and stood next to her. The nanny kept talking, ignored her. She returned to me, said, "she's not talking to me" and I told her to tell her "excuse me" and ask for what she needed from her nanny. She did. nanny told her to sit in the stroller, which she did, then gave her some food, but still did not engage her at all. The little girl sat there for another 15 minutes staring off into space. Even when nanny's friends left, she didn't engage your little girl.
That is just sick. What a waste of skin.
ReplyDeleteVery Sad.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a high pressure water hose so that I could go through every damn one of these parks and flush those lazy good for nothing Nannys off their asses. I am so sick of reading posts like this. And I am so sick of seeing these poor children treated as if they are furniture. And yes, I'm pissed, so flame on.
ReplyDeleteThis is a typical level of care from so many nannies. The nanny probably did not think she was doing anything wrong. Probably thought she was doing her job appropriately. The thing is, with so many of these posts, people who have nannies or people who report sightings on this website, have a totally different idea of what consitutes good care. Interaction with the child is so important. Many nannies are from 3rd world countries and the standard of care is much different, i.e. lower.
ReplyDeleteA lot of posts on this website show that there are vast cultural differences between nannies, and parents or people who report sightings on this website. I do not mean specifically any one group, but when nannies are from depressed areas where standard of living is seriously lower than here, the standard of child care that they deliver here is lower.
We have no way of knowing where this nanny is from; I am just making a general comment that oftentimes cultural differences account for the sub-par level of treatment that children receive. Yes, many nannies would treat their own children that way, and they see nothing wrong with treating yours that way too.
I don't know what 3rd world countries you're referring to, but many of them are totally into attachment parenting and love the hell out of their kids. These same places can produce very good nannies.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame it their behavior on where they are from. They're just bad seeds. Unfortunately there are many bad seeds out there.
This is a typical lazy nanny slug. They seem to be like cockroaches, turning up all over the place.
ReplyDeleteI almost agree that this level of care is typical- but in some circles. In other circles, only the highest caliber of care and diligent attention is provided.
ReplyDeleteYou get what you pay for.
These nannies are like knock off handbags. Their strings pop out and zippers bust. The faux leather sheds away. And all you are left with is a pile of crap.
Ah, the poor little girl with her poop diaper...makes me so sad. I wish we could go around firing nannies for these delusional parents! "She's not talking to me" really broke my heart just a little more...that's too young to learn rejection folks. )=
ReplyDeleteGetting rejected by someone paid to take care of you. How do nannies justify this?
ReplyDeleteI've seen the motliest of men with biggity guts and pock marked faces pay prostitutes and never be ignored-despite their physical horrors.
Maybe more nannies should start thinking that they work for their children. BEcause they think only that they work and report to the parents, the turn on their pollyanna act for two minutes in the morning and 8 seconds in the evening.
Heinous wench. Poor little thing--how could anyone...despite having varying definitions of "what constitutes good care"...think letting a child sit in s**t is decent care?!?
ReplyDeleteThis posting broke my heart. I hope that child's parents see this.
ReplyDeleteI am forwarding this to everone I know in this area and asking them to forward it too. This is heartbreaking. That poor little girl. Based on her reaction, it sounds like she was used to this nanny's unacceptable behavior. I do not care where you are from, no one could think it is OK to let a small child sit in poop like that. What a jack@%&. I hope she is found out and fired.
ReplyDeleteYou know what pisses me off is I am trying to find a job, have excellent references and no one responds to my ad that I placed. They also dont respond back if I answer their ad, and I dont respond back with one line either. I send them a few paragraphs about myself.
ReplyDeleteWell, if this blog works like it's supposed to, there will be a few more openings to interview for.
ReplyDeleteKeep trying and don't settle.
Wow. NO this is NOT typical behavior. If it were I think we would likely see hundreds of bad nanny sightings reported on here daily.
ReplyDeletePlease don't suck it up to being some normal thing people do because that's the standard. A nanny might sit on a bench and talk on her phone, that would be typical in my eyes. The world isn't going to fall apart if she does just that. But not responding to the child's needs , physically or socially, is absolutely wrong. She should have changed the girl's diaper, started her on an activity, played with her even (of course).
Do NOT settle for a nanny like this, who completely ignores your child, just because someone tells you "well, that's what nannies generally do, deal with it"...
2:46, I am the person who posted that many nannies often have a different standard of care, and this level would be fine for their own kids too. I don't know if your post is directed at me, but if it was, I was NOT saying that people should settle for this sub-standard level of care. Quite the contrary! Parents should be aware that nannies may not share their ideas about the appropriate level of care and interaction. I am definitely not saying "this is what nannies do so deal with it." I am saying, beware that little interaction and a sub-par level of care is not uncommon, and make sure your nanny delivers great care, or make other arrangements until you find someone competent.
ReplyDeleteHow can it EVER be excuseable to let any aged child sit in a poopy diaper? So very sad.
ReplyDeletewell, I have colitis and can sympathize with that little child with the poopy diaper. Believe me, it's not fun.
ReplyDelete10:39 PM I've seen the motliest of men with biggity guts and pock marked faces pay prostitutes and never be ignored-despite their physical horrors.
ReplyDeleteAre you a Madame?
I beg your pardon? What an entirely gauche thing to say. Certainly anyone with even a modicum of class would not be accusing another poster of being a lady of the night. Good heavens! Perhaps you need to go elsewhere.
