Manny at Harbor Park in Mamaroneck, NY

Great Nanny Sighting in Mamaroneck, New YorkI just returned from Mamaroneck's Harbor Park where I witnessed a wonderful "Manny" in action. This Manny very closely resembled Tucker Carlson, puffy hair, slight build, fair skin. He had two boys with him that were about 5 and 7. The boys were white with dark, short hair and strong builds. The Manny had them playing soccer and Frisbee, relishing in the wet grass. The more times they fell, the messier they got and the more fun they had. I don't know if this is a temporary Manny while school is out for Spring Break or what but this is the kind of caregiver I would love to hire. Older boy had on nautical looking windbreaker and younger boy had red jacket tied around his waist and Nike swoosh sweatshirt on. Swoosh across middle of chest, sweatshirt in black. It was nice to hear the laughter and the tone with which this person talked to your kids. He was having as good a time as your boys!

  5. Tucker Carlson is not very well coordinated, has 4 children and lives outside of DC. It is less than likely he was playing Frisbee at the park in Mamaroneck on a Thursday.

Having said that, I have two boys who are 4 & 7 and I would love to find a male nanny. I have to admit, I have an overwhelming fear about bringing a male in to the house. I've heard too many scary stories. At this same time, I realize this fear could prevent me from getting the kind of caretaker that might be the most ideal for our family.

Oh that, and my husband. He would NEVER go for the idea.

  8. maybe bad nannies are less likely to be bad on a week like this week? Passover, Good Friday, etc means a lot of parents roaming around. That and a whole lot of kids on Spring Break.

I agree what the mother said about the "manny". Unfortunately some very disgusting and sordid men have ruined it for a lot of people.
And I can't help think EVERY time I see one of these stories where the male babysitter "causes harm" to the child in their charge-
"what were the parents thinking hiring a man?" I agree with that mother completely. It isn't right but it is a hard thing to get past.

As for "he should be worried coming to your house... "
are you the same ignorant fool that posts something ridiculous on every single post? Usually anti parent?

  9. A Tucker Carlson - esque manny would probably be awesome! I am in the process of looking for a summer nanny, perhaps I should phone the agency back and specify this preference!

    I'll keep you posted.

  10. I disagree. I think a manny sounds delightful, especially for the summer months! For my children, I have a wonderfully active woman who enjoys swimming, tennis and soccer but I know lots of people who have nannies that think "sitting in the sun" qualifies as an outdoor activity.
I guess it does come down to what the man in your life thinks of having another male involved. If he is insecure, unfun or a douchebag; I imagine he would balk at the thought of your bringing an energetic, intelligent male in to your home!

  14. The Christmas spirit is known to be warm and wonderful, but from what I've read on this blog this week, I think there may be an Easter spirit at work here! Whatever the cause, the good nanny and manny sightings have made my day!

  15. Do you have to be well educated to have a manny? That's odd because it's obvious that you needn't be to hire a nanny-- just read some of the posts. Anyway, nice to read about this young man.

  16. You take a risk with anyone you leave your kids with. I am lucky enough to do home childcare, so I don't have to rely on strangers. But if I did, I would consider a male. However as one poster said, my husband would never go for it. And there is nothing "wrong" with him: that is anatural feeling, for men and women to have. Some people feel more comfortable with male or femal doctors, why not babysitters? It's not sexism, it's just reality.

  17. so 1:58 would that mean youd be more comfortable with black or white folks as well ;)
