On Monday, January 29 I saw:
1) Your Nanny at McDonalds at Broadway & 70th at approximately 9:30 AM today with your 20-28 month old boy. Curly, reddish hair, big brown eyes. Denim Jacket and Blue Fleece. The Nanny has a two toned Brown Thigh Length Coat with Wool Collar. African American, very short, straight hair, big eyes, Mascara, attractive but strong features.
2) The Nanny spoke by cell phone a number of times to people using street slang and referencing inappropriate topics. I do believe most went over the toddler's head, but not all. I have chosen not to recall what I heard here for fear that I by merely recounting such I could offend someone.
3) The Nanny took a phone call from her employer. During this call the Nanny seemed to suggest to employer that they were at the library. That the child would look at some books and she would read to him there but they wouldn't be checking out anything.
To be clear-, without a doubt Nanny spoke as if she was at the library.
4) Child did not seem to have any problem either being at McDonalds or with the Nanny. He seems happy throughout.
OK so she has a foul mouth and lies to her employer, whom by the way is obviously too f@#$%^ stupid to realize any of this is happening, under his/her nose. I know parents that are worse role models than this nanny seems to be. Give me a break!!
ReplyDeleteListen psycho bitch, also known as commentator #1: I am so over your stupid responses. How dare you excuse this behavior. How dare you take this sighting and instantaneously insult the parent. The mother does not have a right to be at work? She is obviously calling the nanny to stay in touch and make sure things are done right. How would she know the nanny would be so blatantly lying? I don't know what your problem is but you have a real chip on your shoulder. I hope you get mental help ASAP before you seriously harm someone. And I hate ALL of your stupid posts that end with "Give me a break". You are redundant.
ReplyDeleteI know parents who are poor role models too. That isn't what this post is about.
GET HELP.
I personally found this post to be a bit questionable. How can the OP presume to know what went over the child's head and what didn't? Also, how are we to know if it was inappropriate and what she meant by "street language" if she doesn't repeat it? Perhaps she took some black cultural differences to be offensive when in actuality they were not.
ReplyDeleteShe also said that the nanny in question "seemed" to speak as if they were at the library then goes on to correct this by saying that without a doubt she spoke as if she were at the library.
why not say exactly what the nanny said unless there could be another interpretation?
For some reason, I don't buy this post...
806..well you attacke poter # 1 but sounds like you are the one who needs help honey! You anger towards an anonymous blog posting is VERY,VERY unhealthy. You need to relax and talk to someone! I pray that you do not have children and if you do I hope you are able to control your rage and anger around them! poor little souls!
ReplyDeleteStep back and take a look at how you come across..Poster # 1 just sounds young & dumb..but Poster # 2..VERY disturbed!! Scary honey, very scary!
I think a signigicant point is being over-looked here, people. McDonalds! HELLOOOOO!! Not a place I want my children frequenting, much less with a low-class, vulgar nanny.
ReplyDelete"That the child would look at some books and she would read to him there but they wouldn't be checking out anything."
ReplyDeleteOP clarified what she said knowing there would be some crazy nanny raging through this post looking to
a) tear it to shreds and b) somehow blame the parent.
I applaud OP for not repeating crude or offensive comments. I am guessing OP chose not to just because she knew how she would be critisized for doing so. Yep, she would probably be called a racist.
In 2007, we know what is and isn't crude. I don't think we are going to mistake A for B or B for A.
Quit underestimating the IQ of the general pop.
I LOATHE PEOPLE WHO ADDRESS STRANGERS AS "HONEY".
ReplyDelete"HON" is even worse.
ReplyDeleteUsing street slang and discussing inappropriate topics when with your charges, and lying to your employer are unprofessional, and in my opnion, certainly grounds for firing.
ReplyDeleteA nanny
This is the kind of posting that I think this site was meant for.
ReplyDeleteOf course we know most nannies are awesome- but this one- clearly not!
I almost agree with the upset respondee getting so upset.
ReplyDeleteBashing mothers on here is done only to prevent mothers from using this resource.
Obviously the parent is not at fault!
I am particularly outraged by
"black cultural differences to be offensive"
How dare you suggest that black cultural differencesmight have caused the OP to think something
bad was being said when really it wasn't. I think we all know the basic difference between slang and
crude or obscene exchanges!
I don't know, I kind of agree with comment #1. I think that if a mother is at all connected with her child, she should "sense" that something isn't right with her nanny. I mean if the nanny is a liar, and is clearly acting for the mother's sake...where is this mother's "6th sense?" My theory is that the mother's do have an incline that something is up, but being at the office is more important to them. They figure their kid is fed and doesn't have any bruises - so, good enough. Selfish bitches. Quit blaming the nannies - it's the Mom's fault for CHOOSING to have someone with a 6th grade education raise her child for her. Guess what Mom - you can't have it all.
ReplyDeleteyou are officially crazy. Quit blaming the nannies? It was nine in the morning and the mother was already on the phone with the nanny. You are an awful and evil person. Quit blaming the mothers. Sixth sense? The nanny was talking about books she would be checking out at the library. You are a fool. A bitter, awful fool. I hope you don't work as a nanny because you are obviously mentally disturbed.
ReplyDelete6th grade education?
ReplyDeleteYou sound like a R A C I S T.
My nanny is an African American with a degree in early childhood education. She works as part of a team with my husband and I.
If I call someone "white trash", is that racist? I am white.
ReplyDeleteI think the connotation of the racist poster is that there is such a vast and unnerving differences between the races that one could overhear someone having a normal conversation and find offense with it. That is ludicrous!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it was racist.
And PS Why would you call someone white trash? That's just ignorant.
No, "white trash" is used a lot. I hear it on TV all the time. It's not ignorant, it's descriptive. In fact, what about "trailer trash", is that racist? Most of the people in trailer parks are white. Just musing....
ReplyDeleteSG, stop bashing working mothers. You obviously have an issue with that. Some moms have to work. You don't know their situation. And I can vouch that there are some really two-faced people out there. People whom I thought I really knew, until their crazy side came out. The nanny in question may be a future star in Hollywood for her acting abilities. But please stop pointing fingers at the mom. The child is only about two, and not old enough to verbalize discreprancies to the parents about where he has been. Her true colors will show eventually, and until then, it's not like he is being abused. Or maybe he'll use some of her disgusting language and clue in his parents.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I am a stay at home mom who does not judge others moms who choose to work. That is the most annoying thing about this blog. So take your mommy bashing and shove off.
Some mothers don't have a 6th sense. I once did a nanny share years ago and the nanny did something not good at all. She's still with the other family! Why? Because they bought her lame excuse hook, line and sinker, they don;t ask any questions at all and they fail to see what is directly in front of them. This is precisely why I believe strongly in background checks. It's mainly because I don't trust other parents and their recommendations.
ReplyDeleteParents,
ReplyDeleteyou should be especially careful if you have a nanny and she is well paid but would likely not be able to get a job elsewhere with the same salary or benefits. I had a nanny like this. I was afraid to let her go because she was so manipulative. I overheard her on the phone once saying, "if she fires me, I will go straight to her husband and she will lose the kids".
(that would have been my ex husband). Suffice to say, I spent 40K to get rid of that nanny peacefully. She is now working for another family. She makes 3/5 of what I paid her and off the books with no benefits.
My point?
Paying the wrong person too much money is almost as bad as hiring the wrong person.
I am amazed to look back and see what I settled for, and worse-what I allowed my children to settle for-for way too long!
Wouldn't these problems disappear if people took care of their own children, or used daycare like the rest of us? Can't take care of your own kids? Don't have them...get a dog. Children are not a token for completing some element in your life script....we can't have it all.
ReplyDelete711 AM:
ReplyDeleteOD on the bitter pill much?
What is the difference between daycare and a nanny? A nanny comes to your home and cares for your child alone in the child's own environment. Although there are many perks of daycare, they are often disease breeding grounds.
You are suggesting that she got what she deserved simply because she hired a nanny instead of putting her child in daycare, "like the rest of us".
Do you know how envious and idiotic you sound?
I live in a town in Westchester County, New York. I don't know a single person who has their child in daycare. Everyone has nannies. Most of the nannies are doing great work.
Stop saying, "we can't have it all" or "you can't have it all".
ReplyDeleteWhat are you so angry about? Oh yeah- those of us who do have it all!
I have been a nanny for about 5 years and you would be surprised at what I hear coming out of parents mouths in front of their children. I have never swore or talked about anything questionable in front of any of my charges and most of them are in the under 3 range, mostly infants.
ReplyDeleteHowever, her lying about her whereabouts is completely unacceptable. She probably wasn't supposed to have the child at a McDonald's. Most of the children I care for only eat fresh and organic.
It doesn't matter what the parents do. Quit bringing it back to the parents. I mean it does matter, but it isn't relevant to these posts. When you are being paid to do a job, you damn well better do it correctly.
ReplyDeleteYes, you CAN have it all.
ReplyDeleteThis is America. Those of us who must work a job because we cannot afford to be a stay at home mom, must rely on daycare. I would never say it is better than having a nanny. A good loyal nanny is priceless, one who sincerely cares about her charges and loves and protects them as though they were her very own. There are such nannies. If they make top dollar wages, so be it. They are deserving of every penny. Though I could never afford a nanny, to all those mothers who can I say, "good on you".
No..no..no
ReplyDeleteYou don't have it all!
If you say that you do, you're setting yourself up for a big disappointment.
I have a beautiful house, a wonderful family, a God fearing husband and a healthy bank account.
But, I'll never have it all and niether will you.
It's just not designed that way.
Although, you seemed to have done a little for yourself. If you have a nanny...or childcare you don't quite have it all.
Nothing wrong with working...But, to have it all would mean not missing any of those precious moments that nanny gets to share with your baby.
I don't believe that you shouldn't have them (children). But, just know that having money isn't having it all...trust me I KNOW!!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
ReplyDeleteAnd have a happy Tuesday!
