I was in line behind your Jamaican nanny yesterday as she paid for your groceries. She paid with cash and used your D'ag member savings card. She was wearing a striped shirt with rust and green colors, was medium height and thin, wore brown pants and brown boots and had short, blunt cut black hair. Your little girl was at her side. Auburn, curly hair. Black shirt, pink skirt, pink tights-3-4 yrs. The little girl was fiddling with the candy on display nearest the register. The nanny grabbed her hands harshly and threw them off of the product each time she did it. My instinct was that was too harsh. The interesting part of this occurred when the cashier informed the nanny that she had earned enough points for a free turkey and asked if she wanted to get it now. The nanny paused with a weird look on her face. Then she said she would like to get it but wouldn't be able to carry it at present with what she already had, so she asked if they could hold the turkey for her and she would come back for it after 6 PM. I'm guessing that nanny is snatching that turkey up and take it on the cross town bus home to the Bronx. Can't say I approve of the dishonesty involved, but if I could afford a nanny, be certain that I would offer up my accumulated free turkey to the nanny so she wouldn't feel the need to pilfer it on the down low! But of course, I would also want a nanny who seemed to be nicer to my child than this nanny was to yours. So it's a toss up. Or a win-win or a lose-lose. Just check your DAG receipts!

  2. I don't understand how you know the nanny wasn't using her own card (not to mention your talent for distinguishing a nationality as Jamaican without asking the woman which island she was from).

  3. All my men are Jamaican. Yum! So I can recognize- no problem!
Also, what nanny shops at DAG?

  4. ^^ What a bigoted remark! Because she is a nanny she can't shop at DAG? maybe it is the closest market to where she is.

  5. Why did you assume that she was Jamaican, did you ask her. Also, maybe she really could not carry the turkey!!!

  6. You cannot always tell a Jamaican by appearance, but once they get to talking; it is but quite easy to know who is Jamaiacan and who is not. I have three people who work in my home. One is from Trinidad, one is from the Dominican Republic and one is from Jamaica.

  7. because she is a nanny, she is better off at Pathmart or Stop and Shop. D'agostino is high end.

  8. The poster of this blog is a racist, obviously.
    I can't stand racist people.

  9. I believe the author was using Jamaican as part of her overall physical description (which also included height and clothing).

The blog relies on the physical descriptions of the nannies (and the children involved) in the incident as a means to aid the parent in identification.

  10. Oh hell no! I am in no way a racist! I was in line buying sandwiches and drinks to take to my (Jamaican) boyfriend's office so we could have lunch together.
Are you insinuating that being a Jamaican is a bad thing? I thought swatting the child's hands away harshly was the bad thing. And pilfering the turkey.
    But, hey- that's just me.

  11. how do you know she was pilfering the turkey, maybe she is a live in nanny and will take it home to the parents, or maybe the parents told her she could have it. The same thing happened to me, I got a free turkey, using my bosses money and card and had to come back after work at 6 to pick it up due to time during the day, which I took home to them and cooked it up for dinner for the family. I see nothing wrong here, except the hand swatting, which while harsh, definitly not abusive

  12. yeah, well..
I sense some troublemakers here. Flashing the Jamaicaan race card. How absurd. Isn't this supposed to be about reporting suspect nanny activities? It's for the children and for the protection of the children - not coddling to a bunch of opportunistic foreigners.

  13. D'Agostino is high end? Nannies can't afford to shop there! You must pay your nanny very poorly. I am a nanny and I even occasionally shop at...gasp..Whole Foods!

  15. To the original poster:
I know who you are and you don't have a Jamaican boyfriend.

  16. How could you possibly know the op or the boyfriend of the OP? I have a husband of 7 years, but I have a little piece of fun on the side. He's not Jamaican but the point is no one knows anything about let alone his racial make up!

  17. Doesn't the BX13 go to the Bronx?

  18. A little piece of fun on the side? After being married for 7 years? Who am I to judge, but come on people, lets talk about morals

  19. What I am wondering is how the poster knew where the nanny lived? I don't see anything wrong with her saying the woman was Jamaican but I don't agree with the way she assumed the woman was going to pick up the turkey to take it on the bus to the bronx..she can't know where the woman lives and shame on her for assuming that the woman was 'stealing'.

  20. I agree. I think the woman could know she was Jamaican by her accent and that is relevant to the description but the Bronx remark is just being snide. And for what purpose?

If you have a nanny and she takes great care of your kids; show your thanks by giving her a turkey! Or a ham. Or a grocery gift certificate.

  21. errr ummmm i am guessin that at some point of buying the groceries, the nanny spoke and the nanny had a Jamaican accent. errr. der.

  22. i would file this as a MYOB!

  23. I am probably the only person whose gonna side on the side of the OP. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying someone is Jamaican...I think it's ridiculous and just shows how hard other people are trying to not seem predjudiced by ignoring such a basic fact as ones nationality when describing that person (but yes, the Bronx remark was uncalled for). As for mentioning the turkey - I don't think there is anything wrong with mentioning the possibility of the turkey being shadily obtained, but obviously the information given by the OP will have to be figured out by the parents. They're the only ones who are going to know if the nanny was stealing the turkey or not, and I see nothing wrong with giving them the heads up.

  24. you are a fucking racist pig, why are u assuming she lieves at the bronx

  25. Some of the sightings in here seem to be valid and need to be seen as warnings. But then again sightings like this one concerning the turkey, its like people are seeing what they want to see.
First of all it is none of your business, what if she was comeing back to take it back for her employer. You just don't know. But you saw something and qucikly came to your own assumption.
Its sad cause your already judged and condemned her
