My bosses just told me this morning that they are excepting their second child.. Happy Nanny wants to ask when is a good time to talk to them about raises, maternity leave, all that good stuff? Should I bring it up first? Thank you.
Do you have a review coming up soon, or do you have weekly or monthly meetings? If so that might be a good time. If not maybe in a week ask them if you could set up a meeting with them like maybe for two weeks after that. Let them know you would like to discuss about the new baby. If you set the meeting up for a future date it will give them time to think about it. In the meantime do some research in your area for how much extra Nannies get for an extra child. How much if any time will you have off while mom is on maternity leave. If you will be given time off will you be paid in full or half? Will you be able to make a living during maternity leave if you are not paid in full? If not have an amount in mind that you can live off.
OP here: I live in Michigan... Can anyone tell me what nannies around here usually get? When parents go on vacation-I usually don't get any extra pay. But usually less than a week at a time. Is there any links that you can set me up with? Thank you.
When you search google: what is the going rate for a nanny in Michigan scroll down to the indeed. Com and it will bring up the info you are looking for
I would second Jaxx and say to set a date in the future. During a calm moment, mention something like, "I realize a lot will be changing in the future and I was wondering if we could get together and talk about some of the upcoming changes? I want to make sure we're all prepared and on the same page so that everything is as smooth as possible for us and [charges name]." That way, it's framed as you wanting to help them and not just scurrying to make sure your end is covered.
When you set a date, email/text them a list of topics you'd like to discuss so that mb and DB have a chance to discuss together.

ReplyDeleteYou can try a Nanny agency in your area, are there any other Nannies that you know? Try googling it. I'll let you know if I come up with other ideas.
