Peanut Butter Recall at Trader Joe's |
MONROVIA, Calif. (AP) — Trader Joe's is recalling its house brand of peanut butter over fears of possible salmonella contamination. The voluntary recall of Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter was announced Friday on the Monrovia-based company's website. No specific lot numbers are available. Officials with the specialty grocery chain said they were acting "out of an abundance of caution," stressing that there are no confirmed reports of contamination. Trader Joe's is offering refunds. Salmonella can cause diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after infection. The illness usually lasts four to seven days, and most people recover without treatment.

ReplyDeleteYou would be surprised how often food is recalled. It's a daily occurrence. sadly, I am immune to them. I dont even pay attention to recalls anymore. My husband used to manage a grocery store and would receive emails daily of recalls. Sometimes I would help him pull products from the shelf, after the store closed. Usually the recalls were of organic food. Not all recalls, most of them it seemed, were for non-harmless things. Like mislabeling. But this does sound like a serious recall. Thanks for sharing East Bay Nanny.
ReplyDeletei thought you WERE EBN!
ReplyDelete***EBN and C-mad throw recalled spinach and cans of organic tofu at rbtc!***
ow! yipes! ouch! hey! that one flew by my head! yowee! splat!
^funny but I buy fresh tofu at market
ReplyDeleteIt is a big one and most of the many dozens sick have been kids. The recall continues to be expanded.
All lies, RBTC. I would not waste food!!! LOL But hey, if I did..it WOULD be tofu! (NO offense, EBN)
ReplyDeleteEast Bay Nanny....are you a vegetarian? Just curious because tofu sounds like something a vegetarian would eat. Please dont be offended if youre not. I used to be one and recently I have been uncomfortable eating meat and I can not stomach much at all.
village sure made me wary of wheat and gluten!!
ReplyDeleteC-mad - Actually tofu is often eaten with meat of some sort in the same meal:). So many ways to eat tofu. It's a very good protein substitute for vegetarians, thus the "granola" connotation. But we digress...
