5th Ave along Central Park, NY

Bad Mommy or Bad Nanny? I was on a bus going down 5th Ave along Central Park about 5:30 pm on Wednesday, 9/14 & saw a young woman with long wavy red hair with a baby with red curly hair. The baby was leaning forward in his stroller. She grabbed him by the forehead and aggressively pushed him back. My 1st thought was that this woman could hurt the kid's brain with that aggressive movement to his head. Given that the woman and baby both had wavy red hair, maybe it was a relative and not a nanny.

  2. Yeah, I think that's the mom. Odds are the baby and nanny aren't going to have the same red curly hair. And I highly doubt baby is going to be brain damaged from being pushed back into the stroller. I agree she was probably too aggressive but if he wasn't screaming out in pain, I'm sure he's fine. I'd be more worried about injury to his neck than head.

  4. well was the woman a real redhead? That makes a big difference. she could have just dyed her hair red. normally I don't see too many redheaded parents with offspring with red hair. It is a recessive gene. And from my family experience it skips generations and shows up randomly. Like my mother has brown hair and my dad jet black, my sister has dark chocolate spiral curls. And I got the red hair from my grandparents on both sides. But it does happen where the mom can have the same red hair as the child, it just not that often. it sounds like she is the relative if she were natural. Perhaps an older sister or even the aunt would make more sense. In any course she shouldn't have been so rough.

  5. Poor little child.

It sounds to me like this was either his Mother or an Aunt perhaps.

  6. Although this is not a discussion of genes, it is possible for a redheaded parent to have a redheaded child. I am a redhead and my dad is a redhead while my mom is brunette and Italian. That being said, it is a recessive trait and therefore is rare for redheads to have redheads. Also, there aren't many redheads in the world in general so chances are they are related in some way. In any case, what you have described it abuse!
