It looks like a lot of activity going on around her. How can she possibly be asleep? She looks like a grandma to me and God knows they are always dropping off!
I think if her eyes are closed (whether or not she is truly asleep), and she is in a public place, she should be called out on it. Why? Her charge (s) could be kidnapped w/out her knowledge. Shame on this Nanny. This picture is pretty clear and I can't wait for the parents to fire her.
This nanny reminds me of a teacher who fell asleep on the playground at one of my old daycares. My co-teacher and I had taken our class to the library down the street for storytime, and when we returned, the teacher was asleep while her class was playing on the playground. We took the children inside and waited 15-20 minutes before she woke up and realized her class was missing. Alot can happen in 15 minutes!
Yeah... Not good at all. world's best nanny ... Not all grandmas fall asleep whenever. Sheesh :P I had a teacher that would nod off in the classroom n of course we thought it was funny. OH... And OP... Nice catch of the buff dude, that's always a bonus. Heh!
@RBTC: I never looked at it from this perspective but it is true that us nannies are not usually allowed to stay home when sick.
Parents tell us up front how we cannot ever call in sick, because if we do not show up, then they cannot even go to work. Usually families do not have back-up childcare they can call on the spur of the moment, so the nanny MUST come in or else risk being fired. Also, nannies usually do not make a whole lot of cash so to take off a day of work could mean the electric bill goes unpaid or their child cannot get new shoes for school, etc. Nannies usually do not get paid sick days (only the fortunate few do!), so each day that they do not work, only pushes them further into that deep black hole.
Being a nanny today is tough, no doubt about it. It takes a thick skin to work as a nanny these days.
By the way guys, there are always some fantastic articles on the side of these sightings and such. Many of them are worth reading so I encourage each and every one of you to check in daily to see wassup in NannyWorld. Yup.
RBTC...how do you figure? I see no signs of illness, just a person sleeping. I have no idea how she could possibly be asleep though, because it seems like there's quite a few people in the background (including Mr Guns, woohoo!), so I'd assume the park was noisy. This is inexcusable in my book.
I don't know about it being too noisy to sleep... I can cat nap a Seahawks NFL game n that's noisy. Hmm.. But maybe it's the pre-game tail-gating cocktails. Anyway.. Sticking with my first post n I think sleeping, regardless of reasons why, while nannying is just not a good thing
Where do you work? I always have paid sick days, and I have never been threatened to be fired if I call out sick. Most professional nannies will not work without paid sick days. Just FYI for when you get your next job.
Kleigh, that is BS! It is the parents' job to find the back-up care. Besides, what are you supposed to do, interview babysitters from the ER? Jeez, if worst comes to worst, they need to either take a day off (god forbid) or utilize a drop-off daycare.
But I agree, it is rare to find a job that offers sick pay.
Her eyes are closed....How do you know she is sleeping?
ReplyDeleteShe got close enough to snap a photo without waking the nanny... I'd say she was in a peaceful slumber!
ReplyDeleteTo the OP,
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for missing this one and not posting it sooner.
Come to think of it, she does look like she is really sleeping.
ReplyDeleteAnd at the very least... we know her eyes aren't on the kids.
ReplyDeleteToo much can happen in such a short amount of time when you aren't paying attention.
Oh Dear... I feel guilty if I doze a little while the kids are sleeping safely in their cribs at home (and I have the monitor an inch from my head!!!)

ReplyDeleteShe makes all of us good Nannies look bad.

i actually feel a little sorry for this lady - she gives the appearance of possibly being ill.

miss m - it's just a feeling, she looks not well to me, but pretty much nothing excuses sleeping on the job
ReplyDeleteMinka...

Wow.. I got let go because I was hospitalized n couldn't provide back-up care. No sick pay either. Never again
