Eureka Valley Recreational Center, in San Francisco, CA.

bad nanny sighting 5 This happens at Eureka Valley Recreational Center, in San Francisco, CA. It happens on a daily basis, so if a parent suspects it might be your children, come in and check it out in the afternoon, around 2pm-3pm.

There's a playroom inside the Recreational Center. It's called Tiny tot's room. This nanny takes care of two boys, ages around 2 y.o./3y.o. The nanny is Filipino. She wears glasses, polo shirt, Adidas pants. She sometimes carries a pouch. She's tall and big.

So, inside the Center, there's a hallway where you can park your stroller, it's right next to the playroom. Some kids fall asleep in the stroller. This nanny's kids sleep in the stroller. So far there's no problem, but she let them sleep in the stroller and goes to the playroom and just leaves the stroller unattended in the stroller parking. She checks from time to time to see if they are awake/still there. The issue here is that although there's always someone in the hallway sitting on the bench, you can't really tell which stroller belongs to who. So if some random person just shows up and takes a stroller away, nobody is going to stop (unless someone knows whose stroller it belongs to), because there's a lot of strollers parked over there, a lot of them are similar/same brand/style. I find it irresponsible and risky. I have seen many homeless/crazy people walking by that area, and since the place is open to the public, anyone can walk in.

I have also seen the same nanny leaving one of the children by himself inside the playroom while she stays with the other one outside. Whenever she's inside the room with the kids, they are always banging toys against the walls/doors, so she screams from across the room to them to stop. She's pretty loud and she talks in a mean way with them. I once asked her if the parents knew she leaves the children unattended while they sleep in the hallway and she said "yes". Yeah right! I bet the parents don't even know what she does. One of this nanny's friends' child once broke a toy and she said there was no problem, since the people who donate the toys, donate them halfway broken, so I guess in her mind, it's o.k. for a kid to finish destroying it, since it's not brand new, and it's not hers....

There's also another Filipino nanny who leaves a little girl, about 2 years old, named Olivia in the stroller most of the time, while she chats with her friends.

Now I bet you think I am a mom, right? Wrong! I am a nanny and I am appalled by the way this nanny treats the kids and how irresponsible she is. I never leave the children that I take care of out of my sight. I am far from being a perfect nanny, but I think this issue is basic, you NEVER leave children by themselves, no matter what.

  3. I don't know too many tall and big Filipinos, especially the women. Although I met a freakishly tall Koren man once he was like 6'3" are you sure they weren't something else. Hawaiian. It really shouldn't matter but I am so flippin tired today and this was the only thing I found to comment on this post.

  5. Now that nobody can speak what is truly on their minds regarding bad nanny sightings...this blog/post is not so much fun to read anymore.

I know, I know...my comment will soon be deleted which will make this even more boring. Yawn....

  6. Reese, I was thinking the same thing!

  7. I agree, Reese. I used to come here almost for the comments alone. Most recent posts have one, maybe two comments at most. The controversy and sharing of ideas and yes, even the snarkiness was what made it so interesting. I loved coming and seeing a post that had 30+ comments. You just knew it was going to be a good and juicy one :)

  8. Wow... I know you guys ain't that sensitive now, come on!

ISYN has a tough bunch of females here... say what's on your mind, just try to do it without calling the OP an asshole.

  9. Hey, here's an example of posting without making the OP feel like crap! (Oops, I snarked!)

OP, I think your concern is obviously justified, since kids shouldn't be left unattended in public places.

I do hope you'll come back and post more thorough descriptions of the little boys involved though. Things like hair color, stature, the type of clothes they wear, the sort of stroller they ride in, and so forth would make it much easier to ID them and their nanny if there are any readers in your area who might know the kids and their parents.

Same goes for 2-year-old Olivia - details help!

I am curious as to how you know these nannies are Filippino - could you elaborate on that as well if you have time?

    You're brilliant! lol

  11. Hold on, I don't get it! Is there an issue with my post? Why? Was I supposed to write about some really terrible thing to be interesting? Or is the fact that I am a nanny that is "telling" on other nanny bothering you guys? I don't get it!
I am new in this blog. I found out about it a while ago but never bothered checking it out. I decided to read about it to know what parents have to say about caretakers, and since I was bothered by what happened and wanted my word out, I decided to write it and maybe the parent will get the message.

I have seen a lot of bad nanny behavior before but I just minded my business and made sure I never had anything to do with them. This is the first time I actually write about it and I felt it was worth it.

What else should I say about it?

Tales from the (Nanny)hood, you asked how I know they are Filipinos. Well, One of them have told me she was Filipino. She speaks in her language with the other ones, so you figure.

Do I really need to give more specific descriptions? The Filipino Nannies are always hanging out together, and the boys that the nanny that I talked about take care of are blond and about 3 years old. I don't know their names, but just for the fact that they are regulars at this place, and the few descriptions I've already given, I think it might be enough. They sleep on a BOB stroller.

  12. OP,

    Thank you for clarifying.

Understanding that you are new, you may not realize that we had a small problem with some readers badgering contributors of sightings. I have asked that their approached be toned down a little because I don't want people to feel that they will be flamed over every detail they present.

Tales from the (Nanny)Hood was just being a bit snarky by showing how one could question the OP without bashing them.

I am afraid my request has been more trouble than it's worth though... anyway, I appreciate you're taking the time to send this in.

  13. OP, nothing wrong with the post, and I agree that these nannies are not doing a very good job. There's nothing wrong with chatting with your friends while working, but when you're neglecting your job duties to talk to your friends, it becomes a problem. And that's true of any job, not just nannying.

  14. Hi there.. I randomly stumbled upon this post and because I am also a regular nanny at Eureka I decided to read.
I want to clarify that Olivia's nanny is actually really really great. I am not going to drop names here.
Anyway.. I have seen those 2 together and they love each other every much! Not only have I spent time with them at the center, our kids also go to another toddler class during the week.
Just to clear things up.. she is awesome and I do not feel there is anything to worry about.
