I Saw Your Nanny at the Old Navy at the White Plains Galleria |
Must report bad nanny. She was at Old Navy in White Plains, NY at the Galleria Mall. The children were 2 boys, 1 in a baby seat/stroller combo and one with reddish curly hair wearing black check pants like a chef and black high tops. He were about 4. This nanny dont know what she was, like a mutt I think. No matter. She treated this boy like a sin. She coo to the one in the stroller but yank the other boy by his arm and tried to run him over. I saw her out the corner of my eye and I hear the boy say to her 'you ran over my foot' and she says 'no i didnt, stop lying'. But I saw it. That big boy looked so sad. Somebody has them a nasty nanny. Yesterday (Tuesday, December 15) 4:10 pm. The nanny was wearing purple velvet boots.
A Bull hockey post. Not with that writing style. No one writes this way unless it is for entertainment value. And if it is a real post about a sighting, then the person doing the post has taken away any creditability for the sighting.
ReplyDeleteIt is one thing to have bad grammar in a post. That would show a level of illiteracy, that the poster might have been attempting to convey. But the language of spoken dialect does not translate word for word into written language as a dialect. It would just come out as bad spelling and grammar. This is not bad spelling or grammar, but an attempt at translation of a spoken dialect into written word.
While I know the moderators of this blog do not want to censor or make assumptions about posts.
I will note that in allowing such drivel, it does take away from the seriousness of what such posts on here are about.
CD
ReplyDeleteI did attempt to clean this Post up a bit... so the Reader would be able to decipher what was written.
I think English is not her first language so she doesn't know how to write...or speak...
ReplyDeleteThat there was some clean up to the post prior to it being posted. That does change things. Normally if I saw language like that from somoene who had English as a second language, there would be allot of spelling and grammar mistakes which is why it set off alarm bells in my mind. That someone cleaned up the spelling while leaving the flavor in it I can understand why it reads the way it does.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I forgot to add. My apologies.

ReplyDeleteYou had no way of knowing. I just wanted to get the Sighting out there... that was the most important. But I had to make a judgement call on how it was written. In the OP's defense, it was sent to me on MEEBO, all chopped up anyway. It was a bit difficult to piece together. But I was not trying to change "who" he or she was as a person... which is what I think you meant by "flavor" - and I think that is a great descriptive word.
Aside from the noted terrible writing style, it's a shame the nanny was sweet to the baby and horrid towards the older child. I hope the parents see this!
ReplyDeleteMutt is a derogatory term used to describe a Bi-racial person. It's not common anymore but was in the 80's at least where grew up.
ReplyDeletePost is a load of BS I think
Mutt? Ew. Forget the nanny: OP is a racist.
ReplyDeleteCurious Dad-
ReplyDeleteAllot? Seriously? For someone who critiques grammar so much, you should know that it is spelled "a lot". Hypocrite!!!!
Mutt? So I assume the nanny was canine? How awful to use such a derogatory and unnecessary term.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that makes sense here is the nanny's location. Other than that, I question this post.
ReplyDeleteOnly one more final and I am done!
I does thinking this post be BS. Ain't nobody write like this. They does sound like backwoods hick. That mutt need get her ass out of Old Navy.
ReplyDeletePS: Previous poster, good luck with finals! I know how nerve-wracking they can be. ^_^
kettlepot,
ReplyDeleteleave Dad alone: he became my hero when he used the word "pussy" on another thread. :)
hehehe!!
Word thesaurus allot:
ReplyDeleteassign
allocate
apportion
designate
give
ration
Correct spelling wrong usage, now "somoene", incorrect spelling right usage.
I did a whole usage of "i" vs. "I" in a WTF rant. I think I have also posted on here that I feel to many people take “texting” short cuts to much in their posts on Craig’s list.
I also have posted before, I expect grammar mistakes and spelling mistakes. But, when do I normally go out of my way to specifically correct anyone’s grammar? Especially a poster on here or otherwise? Please, do point out when I have.
In my post that you are critiquing, I was pointing out that the flavor of the post did not match the better grammar and spelling of the post.
I was not complaining about the grammar or the spelling. It was just not what I expected from the way the “flavor” of posters language read.
This is so sad- to think that people actually talk and write this way is heart breaking. Not everyone has wonderful writing skills/or had great opportunities in life for education but at least she has the common sense to know that this child was not getting the greatest care.
ReplyDeleteactually it's not heartbreaking to me. it's just life. no biggie. not everybody is educated. I know so many educated people who are freaking idiots. so many people just go to school forever on daddy's money and how is that hard work? it's not. it is just avoiding the real world.
ReplyDeletewhat I hated about op's post was the way she called the nanny a "mutt."
plenty of "non-educated" people who talk this way are not racist. OP gives them a bad name.
I don't normally go out of my way to correct people's spelling/grammar either, but CD, it does drive me crazy that you frequently use the word "to" incorrectly. It's "I feel too many people", not "I feel to many people".

Sad thing is, I was debating with myself on which to use. So of course I used the incorrect one. Had my distance “to” mixed up with my also “too”. And it seems to happen "a lot" apparently. Bear, Bare, Bier, Beer. How we get from there to here.
But again can someone point out where I go out of my way to correct others grammar or spelling? Please? Instead of just nit picking at mine?
As I said before I expect grammar and spelling mistakes in posts. But this is not the first time I have been accused of doing it constantly and would like to know where it comes from. Was it because of my complaint about the capitalization of “I”? Since that is the only thing I can think of. Or my suggestion that those who use write on Craig’s list should use spell-check and write in word or something then type it into Craig’s list?
Or my attempt to analyze why someone would write they way they do?
So again please, point it out or get off my back.
word up, Dad! you tell em!!!! :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteCD, I wasn't agreeing with kettlepot. I just had to get the to vs. too thing off my chest. Kind of like you with your "I" issue. I don't think that you are a nitpicker.
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteAgain? Does Curious Dad have to be the center of attention, again?
ReplyDeleteWow CuriousDad, huh? Although you sound quite smart, what are you like at parties, with the family, one on one with your wife? Yes, I did find the post ridiculous, as most, such as the ones wanting Mary Poppins for 100.00 per week, most of us make that in a day doing part-time care. Could you not have just said "this sounds bogus"? I believe you were the one that posted 7 paragraphs on how to break down the percentage a nanny should receive for a bonus. We realize you enjoy figuring and anaylizing but some of this is just plain silly!
ReplyDeleteWe have what, 2 men that post on this blog. Sometimes it is refreshing to get a male's POV. I understand at times there will be some backbiting but let us not chase off the only 2 men we have here!
