Playplace at Flatirons Mall in Broomfield, Colorado

nanny sighting logo This was Wednesday, February 18th around 1pm. I am also a Nanny and was playing with my charges at the Dinosaur Playplace at Flatirons Mall in Broomfield, Colorado. A Nanny came in with a boy of about four who had dark, longer hair. From what the Nanny was saying on her cell phone, the boy's name might have been Trey. The Nanny was short, in her mid-twenties with short, dark hair, and kind of chunky. She was on her cell phone the entire hour we were there, talking about how she can't do anything fun because of "the stupid kid". I can only assume she was talking about the boy she was caring for. Later, when the boy came to sit by her, she could be heard using some "choice" words, such as the "D" and "F" words, right in front of him. She looked completely bored the entire time, and hardly looked up to see what her charge was doing. I was appauled and horrified with her behavior, and I know if it were my child I would want to know!

  1. Great Nanny Sighting...BAD nanny...she is obviously only working for that family for the money and absolutely NOTHING else....I really despise BAD nannies!

  2. So Trey will repeat what his nanny says. Trey will have a low self esteem because of his nanny. Maybe the parents should fire this nanny because Trey will need therapy if this continues.

  3. Forgive me, but how are we sure this was a nanny?

It bothers me to say this, in part because of the anger I felt towards the woman, but I've heard and seen a mom do the exact same thing.

Did the boy say this was his nanny?

Or did you overhear this mid-twenties girl say something about the parents?

I'm not doubting you, just curious about the indication that said, "Nanny."

  4. I hope a parent wouldn't refer to their own child as "the stupid kid." Then again, one would also hope a nanny wouldn't refer to her charge that way either.

  5. Why become a nanny if you're going to hate it? The kids don't need to be around negative energy all day. No matter how tired I am I always put on "the game face" I am shaping young minds here!
If you feel you have to piss and moan, wait 'til the kid is in bed!

Hey! I thought we were going to be allowed to comment on nanny sightings anymore!

  6. NannyTaxi..why? Because if you don't give a damn, it's a relatively easy job.
I think that's why a lot of people who have only had experience with bad, lazy nannies assume that all of us, even those of us who care, have it real easy.
As you and I both know, that's not the case. Our jobs aren't easy. They're extremely gratifying and most of the time a lot of fun, but shaping young minds, as you put it, is not easy. Some people have subscribed to this idea..this misconception really, that we're unskilled and uneducated because no formal type of training is required (usually) to be a nanny.
In my opinion, it takes a certain kind of person to be a GOOD nanny, and not a lot of people can do it. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I am a damn good nanny and am wonderful with children. I have been from a very young age. In fact, I enjoy children more than I enjoy most adults :-)
From what I have read from your posts nanny taxi, you seem to be the same way.

  7. If this were my child, I'd want to know about such behavior. Especially if they couldn't do anything because of the "dumb kid". You'll have plenty of time to do things when you are no longer caring for my child.

  8. Jacqui,
So happy you are back. You said it perfectly; if you give a damn, it's a relatively easy job.

  9. Perhaps if we could view the employer(s), we would understand the employee - could be???

  10. Jane,

I think Jacqui said the opposite. That if you don't given a damn, it's relatively easy.

But if you do care, it can be a LOT of work.

    I agree.

And that work is VERY rewarding. :)

  11. blue shirt black doc nanny,
You are correct that is what she said. Hmmmm...

My mistake. I do think that if you care about the children it is easy to make the right decision for the children. The job might be harder but it is more likely that the right thing will come easier to you. Some of these bad nannies seem so perplexed, but I suppose it is just an act to excuse their apathy.

  13. Wow, a good, legitimate post. I actually do feel bad for the boy in this situation. A don't get why this girl would want to even be a babysitter so maybe she should just quit.
