Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York

Received Tuesday, July 29, 2008.
nanny sighting logo There were 3 nannys. Six kids. Prospect Park, today around 2pm. At one point, one of the nannies tells-er, yells at, the two little boys in the picture to go pee by the tree..apparently because she's too damned lazy to walk them to the bathroom. So they both proceed to pull down their pants and underpants *to their ankles* and piss right in the open all over the shady tree area that people come to lay down and have picnics on. In fact, this picture was taken right after this happened, so the kids proceeded to play in their own piss after flapping themselves in the breeze. Nice.

  4. To be fair, urine is sterile and yelling outside doesn't hurt the ears too much...

  5. i hate to break it to everyone, but guys don't stop peeing outside, even when they grow up. it's like it's in their nature to just want to whip it out and relieve themselves even at age 32. true, it's gross. but men are just weird anyway, nomatter how properly their caregivers might raise them.

and, as far as the people who use the grass are concerned...dogs pee there too.

  6. Just take the kids to the bathroom. No excuses.

  7. I hate to break it to 1:52 but there is a law against unrinating in public. I don't care if grown men to it they should get busted for it. I do not think that taking your kids to the park and having apicnic under a nice tree and sitting in someone elses urine is exciting nor is it healthy. You are supposed to wash your hands after using the bathroom right? SO what are these poor kids doing? Urinating in public and not being able to wash their hands because of lazy nannies who are by the way getting paid to take their chargesto the restrrom and make sure that they wash their hands afterwards. Urine is not sterile, my oldest son had a compound fracture and got hep b in the hospital. I had to get shots for being exposed to it and the doctor told me to be sure to use gloves when cleaning the bathroom especially the bowl!
I don't enjoy sitting in dog pee either.

  8. Were they hanging out by the ballfields? Aren't the closest bathrooms at the picnic house? That would be kind of far away-maybe they couldn't wait?

  9. Bloody lazy if you asked me.

  10. Encouraging this unsanitory and crude habit serves to make it more acceptable. In a third world country, many similar practices and worse are common place. I prefer to keep things as civilized as possible in the U.S. in the hopes that we might stop our descent with regard to our standard of living and make no mistake, we are in a decline.

  11. There is a reason it is illegal to pee in public. What if all the thousands of people who use the city parks did this?
This was not an emergency if both boys had to go. These are lazy nannies who probably don't make sure their charges go before leaving the house, or take them to the restrooms at regular intervals before they have to go so badly they can't hold it. Inexcusable!

  12. downtoearth,

Yes, urine is sterile unless someone has an infection. Of this I am 100% sure. Feces is not - thus the advice to use gloves when cleaning the toilet. Sorry to sound nitpicky, but I absolutely hate when people spread inaccurate medical information as it it were fact.

In regards to the OP. I'm not a big stickler on peeing outside if no bathroom is available. However, in this case there was a bathroom available and it seems the nannies were being purely lazy. OP doesn't mention, but I would be curious to know more about the general treatment of the kids and the rest of the day. If this were my nanny posted, I would feel rather conflicted based only on this. Certainly not firable, but it would make me worry that the laziness extended to other areas so would really appreciate more details OP might have observed. Even if just to reassure the employer that the kids were others well cared for (were that the case) or to state that they were generally ignored.

  13. I am just backing up nyc mom's info. I am a Medical Laboratory Tech. I specialized in Microbiology and unless the person has an infection urine IS in fact sterile. The reason for the safety cleaning the bathroom was because feces does contain a vast amount of bacteria. But also where I live if the police had witness this the lazy nannies would have been ticketed because it is illegal to urinate outside in a public park. Especially if restrooms are available. There are even signs at our local park in our town that state that fact.

  14. you take a big risk when you have someone else raising your children. parents should stay home and raise their own children...then we wouldn't have these issues

  15. Um...right. Yes, I see. Because moms and dads NEVER EVER allow their little boys to pee outside. Only paid caregivers do that. Yeah, I get it. @@

  20. I'm not a stay at home mom...I work full time and my kid's in camp. But, I do think that kids should be home with their mom...especially when they're little. I had a SAHM and LOVED it! But alas, we do have to work...and deal with nannies who let our kids pee in public.

  21. kids should be,

with all due respect, who are you to decide what is best for every family? Are you perfect? Are your children perfect? I think it is great that you are proud of the way you have done things, but to judge others without knowing their situation is ignorant. also, the tone of your posts is extremely argumentative.

There are plenty of SAHMs who do not do their job well. Just because you don't have to work to help support your family financially doesn't mean that your children will definitely be better off. Some SAHMs do a spectacular job and really foster values in their children. Personally, judging others for their personal decisions is not a value I wish to instill in my child. Rather, I prefer that she grows to be kind and open-minded.

Furthermore, if a woman chooses to have a career and have children at the same time, it doesn't make her negligent. The world is bigger than your own backyard. Take off the SAHM-colored glasses and check the date at the top of your Daily Prophet, K?

    And have a nice day.

  22. I suppose the caregivers should take the children to the bathroom if there is one in the park, but I don't think it's that big of a deal to let them pee outside.

  26. Umass, you did real good directing other posters to Firefox. I was blocked out myself through IE, and I couldn't help them, and I received several e-mails about it.

Thank you for a job well done!

The problem seems to only be with ISYN, Childcare gone wrong is accessible.

Either way, you've no idea how much I appreciate you stepping up and helping those that couldn't get through!

  29. I don't think its a big deal, but only if there wasn't a bathroom in sight, if there was then thats just plain lazy.
