Unbalanced Babysitter Spotted in Bay Ridge, NY

Received Sunday, May 26, 2008
nanny sighting logo A nanny/babysitter was observed treating a child in a "abusive" way on Friday, (5/23). If this is your babysitter and you would like more details, please contact Jane and she will forward your email to the witness.

The child has glasses and dark brown hair and seems about 9, may be named Marianna. The child had bubble gum. Two other kids, probably siblings, were with her: a girl, approx. 6 and boy approx.2 The nanny was behaving and acting "imbalanced".

The babysitter is Spanish/Latino, has glasses, seems in her 40's with a medium build and works through an agency. She is usually only with the youngest child.

My babysitter has seen her at the park on 81st St & 7th Ave although this event happened in front of my house on 76th Street in Bay Ridge, NY.

  1. I wish I knew what happened. But the important thing is that whatever it was, it gets back to this child's parents.
I'm sure there must be a good reason OP is keeping this on the down low.

  2. I'm curious, OP: why are the words abusive and imbalanced in quotes? What specifically happened that these terms applied to?
And what was the nanny in question doing? Not doubting you, just curious.
Can we have more details, please?

  3. Could this be any more vague?

  4. The fact that it is vague doesn't matter.

If the parents see this, they will know its their kid by the description. No reason to turn whatever happened into any form of amusement for the rest of the world. Only the parents need to know the details.

I agree that it is too vague.
What does "imbalanced" behavior mean exactly?

You can't blame us for wondering. It is a pretty big judgement call to make on the nanny, and if this judgement is not backed up with details, it makes it questionable at best.

  6. OP here-
The post is for the parents of this child. I am not about to explain anything to anyone except the parent involved.

  7. Since it's in your neighborhood, and the older kids go to a school that may be in your neighborhood....instead of posting vague info, I suggest you speak with the principal and try to actually get in touch with the parents.

The kids may need help, but we can't help.

  8. I have to agree with 8:21pm, if these kids live in your neighborhood or near by you'll probably get better results speaking with their school principal, rather than posting on a website. Perhaps your babysitter can find out from the oldest child what school she attends? If this nanny truly seems abusive, I would seriously look into figuring out a way to contact her charges parents. How old are your children? Is it possible for them to set up some sort of play date? If so, you could come a long and speak with the children's parents regarding what you and your babysitter have witnessed. Don't get me wrong, I realize you are already attempting to help, and I absolutely love this site and think it's purpose is wonderful, I just feel that it's more full proof to go straight to the parents if that's an option, rather than keeping your fingers crossed that the parents happen upon this site. Perhaps if you and your babysitter do a "little leg work", you can figure out a way to speak directly to the parents or school.

  10. OP
If this is as serious as you imply, then the fact that there's a chance the Parents might not see your post means you should take more aggressive action. We can respect your wishes on not disclosing more information, but all it does is pique our curiosity, and we're only human.
Please use other avenues to find these Parents.

Good luck. And since we're not privy to any other information, could you please post back as soon as you know this child is "safe".
    Thanks.

  11. Vague posts like this are most likely not true otherwise they wouldn't be this way. If it's for the parents then it doesn't belong here.

  12. If it's for the parents- what?

How would the parents hear about it if not for this site???????
