Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn, NY

Received Wednesday, September 12, 2007
Be on the lookout for a nanny in a red track suit with a gold or yellow stripe down the side. She was last seen at Cadman Plaza Park with a sack full of Peter Pan Donuts and sipping on a cold drink. The bag of donuts upon arrival was pretty full. Your little girl was in a collapsible stroller wearing a blue dress with white dots on it and a red collar. She had short curly hair and was between 1 and 18 months. The entire time they were here they did nothing but eat donuts and drink out of that cold drink cup. This lasted about 45 minutes and they only left when the sack was empty. Your nanny is pin thin, under 25, her track suit just hung to her and she had a tank top underneath where when she moved I could see her clavicle jutting out. She is a white girl with a very thin face, defined cheek bones and brown hair that she wore in a pony.

  1. What's your point? Am I the only one here who has a problem with this overzealous policing of other people's actions?

  2. Sorry, I dont understand how this is a bad sighting? Can nannies not eat?? Maybe she shared the food with the baby, but didnt give her that much, if she was this thin, maybe she was starving, its not a crime to eat a bag of donuts.. and how are you certain this was nanny and not the childs parent? I just cant see how this is really that bad... maybe its just me??

  3. Oh my! How awful!! Did you call the police? This child is in serious danger! Oh my!! Eating donuts? Sharing a drink? That woman needs to be stopped and stopped now! how dare she???

    ReplyDelete
  4. Geeze, I have a toddler and we share the same cup. Even if I bring his sippy cup, hes a typical toddler and always wants what I have. Sounds like they ate the mini donuts. Whats the big deal. You seem to have nothing better to do with your time. Then to watch what people eat.

Be on the lookout everyone, lets track down this careless mom or nanny, and get the police involved.
    Give me a break!!!

  6. Just one question:

How can I eat a sack of donuts and be pin thin?

    ReplyDelete
  7. a toddler shared some donuts - the horror...

I understand the importance of good nutrition but, it doesn't sound to me like a ultra thin "nanny" would be eating donuts like this everyday. Donuts as a occasional treat, I don't see the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  8. So in other words, OP, you are an overweight, unhappy nanny or mommy whose charges/children do not like you and you are angered by children who love their caregivers, especially if the caregiver is skinny.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I would like not to have gone into the shameful details but the very thin nanny did consume an enormous amount of donuts. All the while she was feeding the child off each donut. If this is the point of letting parents know what their nanny is up to, I think that the parents should know that not only is their under 2 child being fed inordinate amounts of sugar but their nanny is setting a perplexing example as per food consumption. I would put money down those donuts are not allowed to digest in her body. And where is the child when this happens?

    ReplyDelete
  10. OP you should be a detective - I mean, deducing that the "nanny" was bulimic, wow.
So, if the "nanny" had 10 donuts, the toddler had 10 bites. seriously, how will I sleep at night knowing this is happening in the world?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Well you won't or shouldn't.
But if a nanny has an eating disorder, she could also pass out at anytime. So therein lies the legitimacy of this post.

    ReplyDelete
  12. So by seeing her once you can deduct that she has an eating disorder... Have you heard of a high motabolism? Especially if shes a nanny and spends her time with young children who have alot of energy and so shes constantly moving.... Yeah... eating alot of donuts is not the healthiest choice but do you know her daily eating habits?... It just seems as though there hasnt been much activity on this site for a few days so now were stretching for something to "report".

    ReplyDelete
  13. These are very short posts. Can you imagine watching somethning at a park? Would you have time to sit and type everything you saw? I have said it before and I will say it again. I think people submit things because of a feeling they get, something they see. Maybe they dont convey it in the right way, hell some times they try to hard to be PC instead of right out saying.

    ReplyDelete
  14. If the nanny was "pin thin" and ate an entire bag of donuts in one sitting, chances are she has an eating disorder - most likely bulimia. So, when does she purge, and what does she do with the little girl? Bring her into the bathroom to hear the sweet sounds of the nanny vomiting? That's disgusting.

If I were the parents, I would want to know that a) my nanny probably has an eating disorder (and maybe figure out a way to help her), and b) my child was eating donuts all day.

2:40 - I totally agree with you. People with EDs run a risk of blacking out and in some cases, seizures. The post was totally legitimate.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I also would suspect strongly from this that the nanny is bulimic. A "high metabolism" does not normally account for someone scarfing down 10-12 donuts and being so skinny as to have bones visibly sticking out. And whether this is the case or not, it isn't really setting the best example or creating the healthiest of habits for a child who is just starting to get ideas about what they like to eat or not eat in the way of "regular" foods. Of course, there is no way to know if this was a rare occurrence or a daily pastime between this nanny and child, but it's worth taking note of if the parents happen to see this.

But boy, what a turnaround from the threads where the overweight nanny was getting slammed all to hell and back for giving a baby a bite of her ho-ho, or the nanny was assigned all sorts of mental disorders for eating some ice cream in the car while the children were napping in their car seats (if I remember it correctly.)

  16. My sister in law is stick thin she is 5'3 and weighs less than 100 lbs she can eat 2 big macs and 2 large fries in one sitting and she is not a bulmic and does not have a eating disorder, maybe the nanny was just very hungry...some people have great metabolism's,I only wish i did.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The vast majority of bulimics are of average weight or just slightly overweight. Just some actual information for all of you armchair psychiatrists out there.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Just because someone is thin and eats a lot of donuts does not mean they have an eating disorder...
You people really need to get your facts straight, that girl could have a very fast metabolism or a thyroid problem. This poster sounds like an obese lard that is just jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think 4:11 and 3:28 are jealous, I bet they weigh 411 and 328 god forbid someone's clavicle poke out, oh the horror.

    ReplyDelete
  20. OMG...Your nanny ate some donuts! Fire her immediately!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sorry but I don't think a fatass would concern herself with the number of donuts the nanny was eating. The type of person who was bothered enough to send this in is likely an anti sugar nazi.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Being stick thin and eating a bag of donuts does not an eating disorder make! Maybe she is PMS'ing and this is a one time thing!

My husband used to be able to eat tons and tons of food, junk food included, and he was so skinny that you could see his ribs. That was just his metabolism back then, eventually, age caught up with him and he can no longer do this, but, perhaps this nanny can. Sheesh

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was bulimic for 10 yrs and most of those years I was a nanny. I would go to the bathroom when the child or children would be in another room playing or sleeping. I will be gone for only a couple of minutes. About the same amount of time it takes to go to the bathroom. I would have the water running and I would talk to the child and flush the toilet.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I agree with you 7:46

    ReplyDelete
  25. maybe she has a tapeworm in her stomach. Thats why she is not gaining weight. The tapeworm is probably taking all the calories. I once had a tapeworm, the only way to get it out was to put a banana on the edge of my lips.

    ReplyDelete
  26. a whole bag of donuts, shes probably pooping all thru the day. If your toilet paper disappears sooner than usual you will know why.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bulimics are rarely below normal weight, anorexics are very thin and don't eat bags of donuts. Many athletes and dancers are very thin, very strong and healthy, and occasionally binge on carbs.
A lot of posters are making assumptions without knowing anything about the nanny, or the mom in this case. Not all moms freak out if their kid eats a donut!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Okay. I am very thin, and when I'm pmsing, or just have a craving, I can eat ALOT of junk food in one sitting.

You all are just so hungry for drama that you will turn something so innocent and simple into a debate on whether or not this is a bulimic nanny.

I doubt it. I bet it is a hungry nanny who gets to work early and didn't get to eat breakfast that morning. this is ONE DAY people, it's not like this is a daily thing. And even if it was... there are worse things that can happen to a child than getting a bite of donut.

    ReplyDelete
  29. OP again
The last thing I wanted to was clarify this post. It seems I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. This nanny was fragile with her thinness. That is point 1. The second point is she had a large sack of donuts and she ate the sack until it was gone. The third point was that the way that she ate the food was very odd. But I am not going to get in to that or set about specifically describing someone in an inflammatory way. If she was my daughter or a friend of my daughter's, I would be concerned about all three of these things. And of course there is the young child who she is giving an excessive amount of sugar to. We are not talking about 2 or 3 donuts in that bag. It was large and filled with a variety of sizes and shapes.

More and more I get the feeling that you naysayers are nothing more than nannies who come on here to attempt to intimidate people from posting what they see. This is what I saw. If this is not your nanny or your child, back the fuck up.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm always amused by that little smooth-brained explanation for EVERYTHING some people don't like to see written: jealousy. Yep, someone thinks it's odd for a twiggy, chemo-patient looking thing to stuff down a dozen donuts in a sitting because they wish they also had a BMI of 14. And anyone who thinks it's outrageously lazy, shallow and self centered for a sah "mom" to have a FT nanny and pa7 $275 for a pair of jeans is "jealous" because they don't have someone else nurturing their kids for them while they busy themselves with trying to impress their frenemies.

Ah well, it makes for some good laughs.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't think that there is necessarily a need to attack the OP. She did not call the food police and demand that they arrest the nanny for eating (gasp) sugar and carbs in front of the child. As a former nanny/current teacher, I agree that it is important that if the nanny has an eating disorder, the parents should be made aware. As previously mentioned, ED's can trigger medical emergencies for the nanny, and of course, one has to wonder (if the nanny is in fact bulimic) where the child is when she is regurgitating her food. Give the OP a break. All she was suggesting was that the parents of this nanny be aware of this issue and address it for the welfare of their nanny and their child.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 1:02, well said!

On the surface this post may seem ridiculous, but if you really consider it, it is quite valid. OP, if I was the parent to this child and employer of this nanny I WOULD want to know. Not because I have a fit if my child eats sweets (most things in moderation are fine) but because of the example she's setting (and the nutritional needs she seems to not be meeting!) Also, as much as you all want to stand up for this nanny, it is NOT normal in any way shape or form to scarf down a giant bag of donuts in public as if you haven't eaten for a century...that is bingeing...and that my friends, is an eating disorder!

BTW, for those of you who pull the "jealousy card" I find that absurd in this particular case, I'm glad I don't resemble a "fragile" starving victim with bones jutting out, built like a malnourished 11 year old boy (and before you jump down my throat I am a healthy weight and even instruct dance for a living.) Last time I checked, men actually like "healthy" women, hints mens sexual obsession with starlets such as Scarlett Johansson, Selma Hayek, and JLO...but that'll just open up a whole new can of worms won't it! Somebody is always offended on this damn site, too fat, too thin...get a grip people, find a happy freakin' medium!

  34. I am very thin. I can't wear anything so that it looks tailored. I wonder if I may look fragile to others.
This is how I have always been. Maybe the nanny has a similar body type.
I am still able to get through the day with my three kids.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lets not forget to mention that the baby was in a stroller at a park and it sounds like she was never given a chance to get out and play at all...

Do you need help getting that stick out of your ass????

    ReplyDelete
  44. 8:09, are you an expert at pulling things out of people's asses! How much do they pay you for doing that?

    Spooky, thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Of course I am an expert. Yes, men love when I pull sticks out of their asses. Easy $$$$

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anyone else hungry for down and dirty nanny sighting? There's only so much donut drama I can stand.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I guess this website is getting boring. We need new sightings.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I personally don't care how many donuts the skinny nanny can down in 45 minutes. She needs to multi-task and play with the kid too. Many parents and nannies can play with the kids and have something to eat at the same time.

On another note, I am a bit concerned about the child's age which is an estimated 1 to 18 months. Either this is a very big off-the-charts newborn, or a very small toddler. Whichever extreme, I hope the pediatrician is aware.

    ReplyDelete
  49. There was a bulimic in my college dorm who was very inconsiderate and left vomit behind in the toilets. Someone told the dean of my college that I was the bulimic. I am absolutely NOT bulimic, btw!

The dean makes me meet with him and I have no idea what this is all about. I finally find out he thinks I am bulimic and he is pressing me to get help, etc. He did not believe me when I denied the claims, because obviously most people with eating disorders will lie about them. It was probably the most awkward moment of my life.

A month or two later my friend saw the true bulimic in action, my name was cleared, and she got help, but it sucked walking around my dorm knowing everyone thought I had an eating disorder.

The moral of my story: You have no idea about her life! Now, people will think she is bulimic and all because you started a rumor. Because she ate some donuts...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Why does she have to play with the child while eating?? Don't run with food in your mouth. Or you will choke to death. Why don't you eat a hotdog while running, lets see what happens. Maybe, you will choke on it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. 11:43PM, I am sorry to hear about your awful experience. Man! it really stinks when people judge you based on something you actually haven't done.

12:54PM, get real! If it takes the nanny 45 minutes to snack, and during the snacking time, she can't even play with the child, then she needs to get a job as a binge eating contestant, not as a nanny. I agree with Kelly, nanny needs to multitask if it takes her that long to snack. I own a daycare, and I can guarantee you that alienating the children for 45 minutes for any reason is unacceptable and grounds for dismissal.

    ReplyDelete
  52. God, now the person has a stop watch, seeing how long it took her to eat the donuts.

First, she may be the mother
Second, maybe she just sat there, stone cold, but you don't know what may have happened that day.
Third, she may or may not have a serious illness. You don't know if shes battling cancer, or any other disease.

I hate how the people on this website judge without knowing whats going on. Sometimes, someone may seem lazy, or not interactive. I was the same way with my son. I probably seemed uncaring at times to people at the parks or malls. Didn't want to be, but when my brother died, I was so depressed. In the beginning you may be strong but theres certain times or days that are harder than others. Now I am better, and trying to be a 100% better mother. Not showing as much sadness to my child.

Please, give some of these people the benefit of the doubt.

  53. 1:20

Get a real job, instead of caring for children out of your basement.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 1:20am here. 3:13, get a life. My licensed child care facility is not in a basement. It is an actual daycare with qualified employees who don't neglect children. You can insult me all you want, but I have a real job and I am happy and proud of it. Unlike some people, I actually do my job.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I am a nanny and I have an eating disorder..and I was honest with my family and told them about it. They helped me get help for it and now I am working my way towards recovery. They love their children to pieces..and gave me an ultimatem to get help and they would help me through it or they would have to get a new nanny. I have a great relationship with my family that I work for and I can't imagine my life without them and they tell say the same to me.

Communication and honesty is what keeps nannies and families together. I don't disagree with OP for posting this, but we shouldn't assume the nanny has an eating disorder. We don't know her, we've never seen her.

Maybe she does, maybe she don't, but there are risks involved if she does and if she passes out while watching the children ..it turns into a bigger issue because then the child could get hurt.

I get scared when I read some of these post.

    Its insane.

    ReplyDelete
  56. She may have something called Grave's disease. A girl I knew had it and she ate like a pig, yet she had no fat on her body and you could see her bones, she was NOT bulemic (I lived with her)

    ReplyDelete
  57. 7:28pm, good to hear that you are doing better. You said you don't agree with OP for posting this, but I do agree with OP. If the nanny is truly ill, the parents of the child need to know that the nanny's health situation is causing the nanny to spend too much time away from the child. This is not to punish the nanny or make her lose her job, but to help both the nanny and the parents work something out.

If I needed full time help and found out that my nanny has a disorder that makes it hard for her to function on a full time schedule, I'd ask my mother to take care of the child in the mornings and then have the nanny over for four hours or so in the afternoon. I'd also ask my nanny to make sure that she has taken measures (eg having her donuts during the commute) just before getting to work to ensure that she will spend the four afternoon hours with my child.

    ReplyDelete
  58. 10:08

    LOL
Is that a joke? Do you really think the nanny would be eating donuts for four hours while at your house.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hello

Most nannies even working full-time 50 plus hours, aren't offered medical benefits. If she was sick, how can she get medical attention if she has no coverage? Even if you go into a hospital you get a room visit from one of the hospital employees, asking to see your insurance card, wanting your social security number, etc.

Do you really think most parents look to see if their nanny looks healthy. They don't care, as long as the job is getting done, and the kids are happy with the nanny.

    ReplyDelete
  60. How sad is it that we live in a society where people are constantly watching all of our actions.

This post is completely ridiculous. In a world where people (parents and nannies alike) are abusing children, here is a lame report of a woman eating a GD bag of donuts!

We can speculate/defend/accuse all we want but all we can legitimately do is comment on what was actually seen: a nanny sharing donuts with a child. Big deal!! As a nanny with an often fussy newborn, I sometimes only get to eat once a day. Granted I don't eat a bag of donuts, but at times I will walk the baby to the park and eat a sandwich and chips, or whatever. The thought of some nosy woman watching what I eat and reporting it on this site makes me furious! Was the child in danger? Crying uncontrolably? Vomiting or spitting out the food? If not, who cares?!

I won't sink low enough to guess whether the OP is thin herself or morbidly obese, doesn't matter. But I will say, focus your attention on something more interesting and more worthwhile than a nanny eating f'ing donuts!

It's posters like this that make me constantly look over my shoulder to see who's watching me.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Damn straight you should be looking over your shoulder. Especially if you are behaving inappropriately. We're fast approaching the time when everyone of our actions will be recorded and documented.

    ReplyDelete
  62. even in the bathrooms, sometimes they have hidden cameras. Its so scary to think all our moves and droppings are being watched

    ReplyDelete
  63. If it gets to the point where people need a hidden camara in the bathroom..they don't have a right to have a nanny. I know people need camaras for security and thats fine..but I think in the bathroom is going a little over the top.

If you are that insecure where you need to watch your nanny pee..then stay home and watch your own kid.

    ReplyDelete
  64. You people are nuts...look at what this has turned into! You all have the nanny practically on her death bed because she is thin and ate donuts! The most likely thing here is that she is one of the lucky lucky people who have a high metabolism and can eat all the donuts she wants. I know plenty of people like that. Being thin and eating several donuts does not make an eating disorder.

    ReplyDelete
  65. "be on the lookout" like I am really going to look around for this nanny.

Look out for the crazy O.P. that posted this.

    ReplyDelete
  66. eating is one thing but a BAG of donuts..come on...this is unhealthy for the little child..and nannie must be on drugs...thats the only way she is that skinny and eating donuts...come on get with it parents..do a random drug test....you have the right..

    ReplyDelete
  67. next if our nanny gains a little weight, will we have the right to do a pregnancy test on her?

    ReplyDelete
  68. My nanny would be out of a job if she got fired. The situation would reveal itself eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  69. People who are bulimic are not underweight most of the time. She obviously doesn't have a restriction issue if she was maybe she goes back and forth between the 2..restriction some times and binging and purging other times. I don't know. Its either that or drugs.

Or wait! Maybe she just has a super-fast matoblism like some of my friends do and can eat whatever they want.

I don't think giving the little child a few bites of the donuts is that big of a deal..and the child probably did not know that it was an entire bag of donuts the nanny was eating.

There are bigger issues at hand here with this nanny if she just isn't one of the people who could eat anything and not gain weight.
