Saturday

Palos Verdes Estates, CA

Received Saturday, June 2, 2007
This occurred at about 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 29. I was walking on the trail towards Palos Verdes Blvd. On the dead end right before two nannies left children in strollers to go walking on the trail exercising. When I saw them following me on the trail without the kids I doubled back on the street side to check it out. The nannies were coming back at the same time, I believe they saw me checking them out and may have gotten nervous about leaving the kids alone. Two strollers, one held two boys, one maybe 3 to 4 and the other maybe 1 year to 18 months. The other stroller held a girl with hair in ponytail maybe about 4 also. All brunettes. I hope if you see this please know I confronted them about leaving the children alone and one waved her hand in front of my face saying "not your job". She didn't speak much English. Both nanny's were wearing sweats, one had a big floppy hat on, the other had short hair, 40's maybe. I hope you see this posting, as a grandmother I was concerned for your children. These nannies are not making good decisions that involve your children, if I knew where you lived, I would contact you.

  2. Good job OP, saying something to them (most are afraid to nowadays) ... these nannies are an outrage. I pray they will see this post, also.

  3. Disturbing, as these CCP's have complete disregard for their job responsibilities, and it is horrifying that they left these small children alone. There is a time and a place for everything. If they wanted to exercise, perhaps they can find a way to incorporate the kids (a jogging stroller, playing tag, going to a park and playing with a ball or kite) OR they could just wait until they were not working, and exercise on their own free time.

  6. katie in co, I always liked your comments... but really, it isn't fair to say that it should be home or in a licensed facility--just because you are a licensed facility. it would be like the nanny's saying never to use a licensed facility. everyone should have choice, our job is to make sure parents know if they picked a bad person for the job, whether a relative, a nanny, a licensed faciltiy (like the one on here recently with the kids in the closet), or even a mom. lets all get along.

but really, this post is serious and i hope it gets to the right people.

  7. I think at this point with all these "baby left alone" sightings, I would just call the police if I saw such a thing. Then you know the parents would find out....provided the nanny doesn't leave before they police get there. In that case, I would confront her for sure.

  8. Wow. That's a special kind of stupid right there.

  9. And you didn't call the police because your cell phone was wedged in your skull where your brain used to be?

Seriously, you should have called 911. They would have at least alerted the parents to the situation, and that would be your goal, no?

  10. Cingular Wireless Dropped Call Commericial:
    Pitch this:
Sahm or anyone is walking in a park and sees a site like this one. The nanny is neglecting, endangering, etc the children. The Sahm or person goes to call 911. Call gets dropped. Nanny flees on foot.

Next time here's what you say.

    Yo sabe donde usted trabaja!

  14. You just said, "I he knows where you work!"

"Yo se," not "yo sabe." Please learn verb conjugation before you offer any more translation services.

  17. shocking and i exactly know how u must have felt in that situation.
I was going for a walk with my kids. i spotted a stroller with a baby highest 7 months in front of a familystore with no mommy in sight. i was so distracted that my oldest just ran of to the playground some meters away. i had to get him. back to the front of the shop i saw an eldery man who was kinda checking out the situation too. asked him if he did see anyone he said no.
well end of the story i found the mother at the very end of the store not even caring for a sight of her babystroller. and guess what she was actually blaming me... and couldnt understand why iam so worried.and tried to give excuses.
