Approximately 4PM, (Tues. May 1) a hysterical child about age 4, screaming, hollering, calling his parents names and cussing at them. When the CCP's couldn't deal with the situation, they told the other child, a girl approximately nine or so, to take him outside. Evidently, they didn't wish to leave the store and continued with their shopping. Meanwhile, the little girl was outside trying to contain the still screaming and upset child which was well beyond her abilities. I observed this when I had gone to check out the disturbance in the store and I also observed the little girl grabbing on him and trying to control him while outside the store, so her parents/nanny/nanny and a parent could shop. Both CCPS's were Hispanic and the mother/CCP had very poofy black hair, with a white T shirt, cut off jean shorts, and very dramatic fingernails. The father/CCP had a shaven head, muscle shirt, baggy Levis, and tennis shoes. The little girl wore sandal tennis shoes and capris with a spaghetti strap floral tank top and the little boy was wearing shorts and possibly a diaper, and a yellow T shirt. The children were outside by themselves with no supervision for around 45 minutes.
Wasn't there a big lots sighting in California. Where some nanny tipped the kid over in the basket and told her not to cry about it or something? What is Big Lots? A big man's store?
ReplyDeleteBig Lots, a store that buys out surplus lots of clothes, housewares, some food items, etc. and sells them cheap. They seem to be mostly in the West. A perfect place for an underpaid nanny or low-end babysitter to stretch her pay.
ReplyDeleteBig lots is a discount store, like a glorified dollor store or say beat up target.
ReplyDeleteWhat is CCP's????
dramatic fingernails are usually a sign of malice.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does this sound much more like an "I saw your parents" than "I saw your nanny."
ReplyDeleteI know that there's a helplessness attached to seeing kids in bad situations, but I don't think this blog is going to be any help for children who are being neglected by their parents. It seems to me that more immediate action, like telling the store manager about the unsupervised kids, is needed in these kinds of cases.
I just don't think parents are reading this website in an effort to improve their parenting skills.
Hi Annie,
ReplyDeleteI think you are right that it was parents.
I think CCP (short for the generic Child Care Provider) is annoying only because I keep reading it as CCCP or the initials of the former Soviet union. When mentioning an unknown CCP I tend toward "care giver" when nanny isn't the best description.
And it sounded like 9 is too young for this little girl to watch an upset 4 year old.
CCP is an annoying term. SEriously.
ReplyDeleteYou know 2:09, I defended the term CCP in posts before this (and I still guess you should get to chose whatever terminology you'd like). However, I have to completely agree with you now, it is getting so annoying!
ReplyDeleteLet's let the SEHM & the WM have their catch phrase, and the rest of us go on as we did before.
well, here's the connection I see- that parents often put their children in the care of non-qualified, immature, inept caregivers. In this case, the parents dumped their four year old on his older but still very young sister. Many of these sightings would be avoided if parents didn't make bad decisions about who watches their kids. This is one. In their ignorant little world, they actually felt that this was a viable option for them. For those who weren't in the store and saw this little girl dealing with this very young misbehaving child, they certainly must have been appalled. I also think the term CCP is confusing for some.
ReplyDeleteTarget, "big lots" and Baby Gap. I shudder at the thought!
ReplyDeleteCCP? Interesting? How bout HCCP?
ReplyDelete4:17 Please leave Target off your shuddering list. They have exquisite apparel and lingerie.
ReplyDeleteExquisite? I just fell off of my chair and tumbled out of my cubicle. Exquisite. I doubt even the CEO would use that term!
ReplyDeletePerhaps you need to take a look at their merchandise before being so judgmental 7:32. They have really gone "top drawer".
ReplyDeletebig fucking deal!! sounds like you need to find something better to do with your time than posting bitchy comments about how bad someone else's parenting skills are!! would you have been more satisfied if they would have beat the poor child right then and there for you!! Younger siblings have alway's helped out with there brothers and sisters!! It's not that big a deal! Get a life!! Don't be so damn judgemental!!
ReplyDeleteWell now, angry lunatic 3:09. maybe you think putting a four year old in the care of an eight year old, outside of a store where strangers and moving cars abound for almost an hour is ok, but any parent with an ounce of common sense would NOT. BTW, may I suggest "Anger Management 101?" Ya gotta start somewhere.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone-
ReplyDeleteIt is really frustrating to try and find solutions for nanny and parenting problems when people (who don't know each other) are arguing or cat-fighting. Please try and keep it to a minimum so that the nature of this site may stay intact. Thank you so much!
p.s. CONFRONT THE PARENTS if you see this happening!!! It takes a village to raise a child.
who would know unless they shop there 10:32
ReplyDelete10:47 annie its not you
ReplyDeletesounds like they just witnessd a disfunctional family outing
MOST of this is bad parenting, thrs no way care givers do such things, most of CG provide better care then ther own damn parents,
ReplyDeleteI'm a witness to this!
no ones gonna take the time to show how good they can take care of your child and if they do you will notice something b4 you hire them i jus dont believe the care givers take up so much time to look good in the parents eyes to get hired and then take bad care of the children its jus unbelieveable
