I saw a nanny a few days ago in Battery Park City's toddler park who was SLEEPING. This was on Thursday, 5/10. I wanted to wake her up. The nanny was watching a 3 year old (or therabouts) boy with shaggy dark brown hair. He was a real cutie. The nanny was African-American, overweight. She was wearing jeans coat and jeans pants. She had brown dyed hair, frizzy curly and short, bronze lipstick. The boy has dk. brown hair, layered shirts, very cute, was oddly wearing black dress shoes. I was really shocked. The nanny's head kept lolling and then she'd jerk it up with half-lidded eyes, only to flop down again.
USE YOUR CAMERAS PEOPLE!
ReplyDeleteWhat time of day was this?
ReplyDeleteHaven't you seen maggie's $100 per photo offer?
ReplyDeleteYou should have kicked this woman in the twat. That wouldn't have woken her up.
Can we not use the word twat?
ReplyDeleteOh vey!
10:38: I agree! At least throw something at her or give the kids sharpies to draw on her. Tape a piece of paper on her back - like the Kick me notes from school - that says "I suck as a nanny because I sleep at the playground".
ReplyDeleteHow do you people not do something when you see these pieces of shit sleeping instead of taking care of their charges?!?
Can we seriously argue or make our points without using crude language?
ReplyDeleteThank you!
What would you do with a photo if you took one?
ReplyDeleteThese are some amusing suggestions, but how about waking her up, and telling her sne needs to watch her charge?
Please help me out. is it wrong to describe someone's race/ethnicity as "black". I noticed that a lot of postings are describing nannies as African American. I happen to be very familiar with the nanny community in New York City, and very few of the nannies of color whom I know are actually African American. Some of the nannies of color in NYC are Neither African Nor American.
ReplyDeleteA question for the politically correct out there: How can we address this issue. Seriously, I am not an expert on race relations, but I worry that "African American" is being too loosely used in postings on this site.
That is a good point Kelly. However, I would hate to discourage someone who sees one of these lazy slug nannies fail to report it because of being afraid to use the wrong descriptive phrase.
ReplyDeleteKelly:
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with using Black.
Persons from the Caribbean come over and ride the coat tails of Americans of African American descent. Americans that have fought wars and marched and prayed and educated themselves and others to get to where they are. I see a lot of people who seem to have no problem standing under the African American flag. It makes their life easier! I personally don't understand why there isn't more outrage about this. I hear hispanics complaining about the difference between Cubans and Mexicans, Portugeese and Peruvians.
ReplyDeleteWeird. I always listen for the accent. African American nannies are actually more rare than caribbean nannies and they more likely to be active and energetic. Those from the islands are used to the pace of a snail. I can say that, right?
They hit the gripe water too much.
ReplyDeleteyou go Brad.
ReplyDeleteTell it like it is.
a person proclaiming to be "maggie" also possibly referenced previously as "maggie doo" is offering $100 for pictures of a nanny sleeping on duty. I don't believe she has listed her contact #!
ReplyDeleteare firecrackers legal here?
ReplyDeleteI am a SAHM. I see sleeping nannies all the time. Usually there is another nanny who watches over all the kids but if one of them gets hurt and is crying, noone goes to them. Do you know how many times I have consoled a hurt and crying child and there is no nanny in sight? I have called out to the crowds "who is in charge of this child?! He needs help". I can tell you I have only gotten a response a handful of times.
ReplyDeleteany worker who sleeps on the job or drinks on the job=
ReplyDeleteshould be fired.
and when the person is entrusted to care for someone's child, that person should be charged with neglect.
Then let's see how easy it is for sleepy the nanny to get her next gig!

Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it. :)
yes, good idea to give the reason when you fire a nanny for sleeping on the job so that a potential employer knows what he's getting. In other words, do NOT give a good reference and be honest if called.
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly. I use "black" because I don't know the history of the person I am describing usually, so it would be presumptuous to call everyone AA when they aren't. Lots of black people aren't American.
ReplyDeleteAnd black is as inaccurate a decription of skin color as white or red or yellow, so as long as everyone is being inaccuratly described it's fair. Peter Ustinov said he used to put down "pink" wherever he was asked for his skin color. lol
It's wrong that the nanny sleeps on the job....but you are all worse
ReplyDeletet than the sleeping nanny. You all have nasty tongues and very evil comments. Why do you have to belittle another human being and other races and or nationalities?
People need to get the balls to actually speak up in these extreme cases. Why are people so willing to sit idly while witnessing a potentionally dangerous sitation only to talk shit about it later. Ridiculous. We need action people!!
ReplyDelete10:33pm, telling on people is very tricky. Some of us don't want our legs broken by some furious nanny or parent because we openly pointed out the stupid things they are doing. Unfortunately, for fear of being jumped by crazy people, we post choose to report anonymously.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how many people look at this site? I told on one nanny through this site, and guess what, so many parents (at the playground of the sighting) and nannies are still talking about the crazy nanny and I haven't seen the nanny eversince. I was actually impressed that something had been done about the very bad nanny.
I know it is annoying when people wait til they get home to report these things, but sometimes we have no choice. When these nannies get fired, or when the looney parents lose custody, they could get their friends or relatives, or even hitmen to cause harm to whoever told on them.
Hey JMT, thanks for the feedback! :)

I agree! Oh yes, let's kick a woman for sleeping! Let's call her nasty names! She is such a horrible witch for being exhausted! How do you know she isn't working 3 jobs to make a living? Heartless bastards. Ever wonder why kids take naps?
Tsk tsk tsk Doncha know?
ReplyDeleteNannies are NOT government workers.
They are NOT allowed to sleep on the job.
