2 little boys, approximately 1.5 yrs of age. The boys had light brown hair, big dark eyes. They were in a double stroller; the front and back kind- not the side to side. The nanny parked double stroller off to the side in the store earlier today and proceeded to browse the entire store. I could have easily walked out of the store with the stroller and both of your little boys. What was this nanny thinking?

Banana Republic on 86th and Broadway in NYC. Nanny parked a Jane Powertwin stroller, with the kids in it, and proceeded to browse the racks. I am fairly certain I could have walked out with the stroller without her noticing. Kids are two boys, maybe twins, with light brown hair and big brown eyes. I would guess around two years old. Nanny is black and is around 45 or 50, medium build. This was on Friday, May 4th at 10:10AM. Oh, looks like someone posted this for me already.
need lots more info. twin boys aren't that uncommon.
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that you thought about taking someone elses children...not someone else taking the children.
ReplyDeleteUh, Dr. Phil
ReplyDeleteI think you missed the point
It is irresponsible of the nanny not to keep the children in sight, yes, but honestly, how fast do you think you could make your getaway navigating the sidewalk with a big clunky double stroller?
ReplyDeletepretty fast. after all, it is not a side by side! those are hell!
ReplyDeleteyou are definitely one of those mothers who go out of their way EVERY DAY to search and find a nanny who is not crazy glued to her charge. All nannies are not terrible.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of crazy comment is that? Maybe the mother was terrified when she imagined her own child being left alone like that. Nanny's work UNSUPERVISED. And as this blog shows, most nannies (not all), but most nannies can use some G-D damn supervision.
ReplyDeleteMeet your new supervisor.
I'll be seeing you.
A public stoning would have been appropriate.
ReplyDelete7:29:
ReplyDeleteI think I LOVE YOU!!!
7:29... why do most nannies need supervision, exactly? Because of some blog where people point out the nannies that natural selection hasn't gotten to yet?
ReplyDeleteWell, who do you suppose is hiring them? And who made you gunslinger at the nanny coral, because it sounds more foolish than anything. This blog is here to find the exceptions, the dangers, the people who make those of us who know what we're doing look terrible, and most importantly, to protect kids.
I think it was very rude of you to say that, and if I ever feel like I need supervision, I'll ask my Boss. The one who actually knows her kids, her situation, and signs my checks.
6:23, 7:22,
ReplyDeleteyou who blatantly defend the indefensible, shame on you.
How can anyone defend this?? You must not have kids, or you live in some podunk town where presumably everyone knows everyone so it is OK to leave your children unsupervised at the entrance to a store while you shop.
ReplyDeleteWe're talking about Manhattan NYC, not Manhattan KS. You can't leave kids in a stroller in a store and go your merry way!! A woman was arrested a few years back for leaving her *own* child in a stroller outside the Dallas BBQ. She was from Scandinavia & apparently it's OK to do that there. It's not OK here!
1009-
ReplyDeletetake a deep drag & relax.
i think she was being waggish. although i do agree most nannies need supervision.
any good nanny knows the difference between the riff raff on the park and herself. so who is to blame? in most instances, lazy employers who don't go through efforts to hire good nannies. Chintzy employers who don't pay well. Believe you me, if you pay a nanny less than she deserves, she will earn just that. (or take it from you somehow). And the last blame goes to these actors from the masters acting school of Kingston (jamaica). they sure know how to put on a brazilliant act for mom & pops during the hiring process. so in that sense, we all need to pitch in and supervise these nannies. spot check them. give them the evaluation their behavior is crying out for. even if only to show their boss what a mistake they made. people will get away with as much as they can. these means as much about lazy, no good nannies as it does with employers who get away with being tightasses and hiring the senseless.
the result is that we are having third world culture introduced to our young, defenseless kids. I wonder how this will play out when these kids enter school? What influences will the children carry forth?
ReplyDeleteIf MOST nannies are in need of supervision, that means MOST employers are not doing the work required to hire a great nanny. That is: interview well, speak extensively to references, ask the right questions, ascertain if they have the same standards of care you do. Some moms are happy with a "nanny" who parks the children in front of the TV while she cleans all day. Have a trial period when you can be in and out. Pay well, and on the books.
ReplyDeleteI guarantee you, the bad nannies described on here are not professional nannies with good educations and rave references from families who expect quality childcare.
I love Banana Republic.
ReplyDeleteI too, love Banana republic. Skirts actually hit right above my knees as they should!
ReplyDeletebut should they really? I mean, with those knees?
ReplyDelete729, you rock. :)
ReplyDeleteMy knees (legs in general) are the sort of things that many a man's steamy summer dreams are made of. Ask around.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I doubt that and instead envision a couple of wrinkly elephant legs?
ReplyDeleteIs one poster really pretending to know another poster here just because she is one of thousands who shop at a certain store? How could one poster saying that a certain store's skirts fit her the right way cause you to lash out?
ReplyDeleteanonymous posting options sure does bring out the CRAZIES.
sane person posting,
ReplyDeleteget a sense of humour
Yeah, get a sense of humor. Or we'll throw our shoes at you!!
ReplyDeletehahahaha
ReplyDeleteOk what about the fact that someone is paying this nanny notbto shop but to carevfor her kids
