Kentucky Fried Chicken in Hillsdale, New Jersey

Received Friday, April 20, 2007
I found myself shocked to observe a nanny hooing and hahing inside the KFC in Hillsdale, NJ while waiting in line and then for her order. She was very loud and abrasive, decked out in Street clothing and wearing a lot of makeup. Her hair was flattened and almost "feathered". She was about five foot three-five foot six and weighed over two hundred pounds. She was wearing an open print button shirt with a purple colored top that was very tight on her and hugged her tummy tire tight. She had her cell phone and was disruptive as she spoke very loudly into the phone and then passed back details of what the caller said to another female who was along side her. I was already put off by this woman when I realized that the little boy rolling himself along side the wall belonged to this woman. She was most definitely not the mother of this child. I don't say this because she was AA and he was White but because of the way she spoke to him. He had a car in his hand and was driving it on the wall and minding his own business while she carried on. She was abrasive even with the workers there making sure they didn't forget this or that in her mammoth order but saying it in a really obnoxious way. All along this boy is just minding his own business not bothering a fly. When the nanny was on her way on out of the store, she hooped and hollered, "lets go" or something. She might have been calling a dog. The boy didn't immediately respond to her. Frankly, he was in his own world. The nanny then said in her same loud, obnoxious voice, "Yo, let's go". The boy who was probably 5 (?) kind of gave her a nasty look. The nanny's response, "Oh don't make me take you home and bust your ass" or she might have said "bust on your ass". I have a pretty good feeling it was just an idiotic threat but this woman was just a boar. I did not see a shred of kindness in her demeanor, no sense of warmth or compassion. Just a vile nanny entrusted to a very sweet, lonely looking child. Boy was wearing l/s green striped polo style shirt. The shirt also had white and dk. blue in it. He was wearing blue jeans and had on a pair of white and blue almost high top looking sneaker. They may have been Stephon Marbury shoes, but I can't say for certain. This all took place on Thursday at about 4:40 PM.

  1. Interesting. Obviously I wouldn't want someone like that caring for my child. Poor little guy, but I'm sure if he's about 5 yrs as you suggested then he would tell his parents that he is not fond of her since you said he gave her 'a look'. I would certainly listen to my child if they expressed dislike for their caregiver, after all they are the ones who are with them the majority of the day.

  3. some mother hired a nanny who don't pay attention to the child and that wrong. The mother should ask the child what he thinks about the nanny.

  4. This woman sounds like a walking fashion disaster of biblical proportions. The description made me think of John Leguizamo's Clown character in "Spawn" Yikes! Triple Yikes!

How on EARTH does a woman so loud, obnoxious and abrasive get hired in the first place??? How could she have shown herself differently to the parents in an interview? I wouldn't want to stand in line with her much less let her watch a child. What did the parents think would be the benefit to their boy from exposing him to this crassness daily? I can only think they are paying bargain prices and getting what they paid for.

  5. That's NOT a Nanny, that's a BABYSITTER. There's a huge difference. I can guarantee this person doesn't have a degree or training or any sort of history in childcare. The real bad guys? The parents. Her clothing style alone should have deterred them from hiring her. Poor kid.

  6. Yes, poor kid. But black, white, Asian or other doesn't matter, when parents hire someone to care for their precious offspring, they should look for someone of their own ilk, i.e., having standards in dress, etiquette, and demeanor that are acceptable to the parents and are a futting example to the child or children. It sounds like this woman was plucked off some street corner in Harlem.

  7. What does it matter how she is dressed? You describe her as if you hated her because of her outer appearance then because of how she was acting.

I understand the need to describe how the person looked but come on.

  8. I think the point in describing someone who dresses like this is just kind of like, what were the parents thinking when they hired the beast?

  9. Yes, attire does matter. In many jobs, there's a dress code and here's one I might suggest for nannies: dress decently. You are caring for children, not soliciting.

  10. Sadly, I'm afraid the parents are not concerned about quality childcare. They can see how vulgar she is, and that their poor little boy is not happy with her. My guess, from observing many nannies and families is, their priorities are cheap and willing to work long hours.

  11. while her actions were bad and the parents should be aware, I'm kind of offended that her appearance was what you first mentioned, or that it had to be mentioned at all. The snide comments about her size, her order, and her hair are unnecessary.

  12. If this boy's parents are so clueless as to entrust their child with such a vulgar and crude person, then they are the ones at fault here. And, give me a break, this woman's trashy appearance is 100% relevant and is a true reflection of what a low-class person she is, regardless of race.

  13. wrong, 10:37. Appearance speaks volumes about someone and besides, descriptions are needed on this board to ID the offender.

  14. While I believe that your account of the nanny's behavior toward the child is worthy of reporting, your attitude relating to the nanny's appearance sounds racist. I don't think it's necessary to be so judgmental in that aspect of your observation. I'm sure the parents of the boy would have been equally horrified by your account without the rudeness you have included.

  15. the people on here crygn out about the poster being racist are ridiculous. this is a child we are talkign about. get over yourselves and look where the real problem is. the way ths child is beign treated. good lord, since when is the description of a person more important than whats happening with the child???

  16. I purposely reread the description of the offensive nanny and saw nothing racist in it. Some people just look for stuff so they can yell 'racist'! That's BS

  17. The only thing remotely racist about the post- if you want to be an idiot- is that it took place at a Kentucky Fried Chicken and the nanny was AA. Feathered hair, open print shirts-these are not even sterotypical descriptions!

  18. Well, I'm not AA and KFC does it for me!

  19. I think the comments about her size, dress and appearance were meant to help the family (should they be reading) to identify the woman.
I think this is in large part the fault of the parents for hiring someone like this to care for their child whether she be a babysitter or a nanny.

  20. Please don't feed your kids KFC and fast food!! They deserve real food and to be taught good eating habits.
