Anyone know of a nanny named Malo or Marla? She looks Indian or Caribbean of some sort I hear the guy shes always with say Marlo or Marla I am not sure. I have been seeing walking around with the little girl she takes care of . There is this man whom I think is her boyfriend or some sort that with her most of the times as well. The reason for this post is that i want to say these parents do not see what I see .The nanny is always making out with the guy They are acting like a couple of teens . This behaviour is totally inexcusable . The guy is all over her and same applies to her .I also saw them getting out of a car driven by the same man .I heard the man refer to the little girl as Sofia when saying goodbye . God only knows where they went or did with this innocent child around anyone know the parents should inform them.
I used to live in this area. I would see these nannies all about the streets while I was pregnant with my first. The sheer calibre of nannies I saw in this area is what caused me to decide to be a stay at home mom.
ReplyDelete9:51, Just because your neighbors hire low rent nannies doesn't mean you have to. There are some great nannies out there.
ReplyDeleteI think you should mind your business. Let the paretns find out on their own.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but SO wrong.
ReplyDeleteHow many stories in the News since January have had to do with the babysitter's boyfriend abducting, molesting or BEATING to death the child?
The parents need not find out later that their daughter is hanging out with babysitter and boyfriend.
Parents need to KNOW all of the adults their children spend time with! Keep no secrets!
I live in Park Slope and the caliber of nannies is not high around here. It is shocking to me also since the people who live in Park Slope are mostly highly paid, highly educated professionals.
ReplyDeleteApartments easily go for a million dollars and are bought up in seconds, yet, the nannies hired don't even lift their butts off the park benches!
I said I used to live in this area and the nannies I saw in this area are what led me to be a stay at home mom! The nannies I see in the town I now reside in keep me on my game! They are all great!
ReplyDeleteNannyskank needs to be outed. I can only imagine what that child might have viewed, not to speak of how she's probably a nuisance to the boyfriend and there's no telling what kind of treatment she receives from him.
ReplyDeleteMy child doesn't spend time with other nannies or anyone that we have not met personally. Period.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I have a great nanny and have over the course of three years gotten to know her brother and parents.
There is no loss from knowing everything there is to know about your nanny. You have to open up your heart a little. And if that exposes you to someone sinister, well better you than some defenseless child left shivering in a car while some beatnik poet has nanny dearest bent over the bumper of an 82 Buick LeSabre.
I'm just sayin'.
Did I detect a bit of snobbery in your post, jj? What makes you think that the vehicle of this hot-blooded hunk has to be some piece of shit? Of course, I also doubt that what he's calling out to nannyskank is poetry.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Any beatnik poets who are still alive would be in their 70s at least.
ReplyDeleteHey! I had an '89 Buick LeSabre for 13 years. It was awesome. It didn't get that hot beatnik action, sadly.
ReplyDeleteI think JJ is right. You never know who is really seeing your child during the day (lots of posts on here to prove that), and maybe nanny is sucking face with a lowlife who doesn't want the distraction of a crying kid. Bad things have happened. And I doubt the judgement of an nanny hanging out all day with a questionable bf without the parents' knowledge. Suck face on your own time!
Exactly, jmt. But since you admit having driven a Buick for thirteen years, may I suggest that like me, you are not of the wealthy variety? Bet I could have made a smokin' lowrider out of that. Yeah, I'm a Mexican from Southern California and found this blog via a tip from a gal I have dated a few times whose a nanny. I find it helpful as I'm studying childhood development and child psychology here in New York. It's interesting, all the different views, opinions and ideas. I notice you post a lot on here so what's your story?
ReplyDeletepintella, you'll find that JMT is one of the most level headed posters here. Truly. While everyone else points fingers and acts like the kids on South Park, JMT always comes across as a ray of sunshine. Welcome to the chaos.
ReplyDeleteYou would have loved my first car: a black on black two door Plymouth Sport Fury. The body fairly fell off around me, but the engine was the Terminator - you couldn't kill it. The Buick came next and was such a smooth, sweet car that I didn't need anything else.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to know more about me, you'll have to check Feb and Jan posts. I don't give out too much online. Good luck with your studies, you'll certainly learn a lot about childcare and un-care here. And if you still build cars, check out Corona around Shea Staduim before it all gets torn down.
Be well.
awww 10:29
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warm and fuzzy. I'm going to bed now. Sweet dreams.
10:21:
ReplyDeleteLet me guess, you are a superb nanny yourself? One who calls others "low rent nannies." Yeah, right.
or maybe 10:21 is a high-salaried nanny.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think that the highly intelligent JMT is capable of spotting a tongue in cheek!
ReplyDeletestupid idiots all of you. Im a nanny in pslope and the calibre of parents that I have seen over the years is this, snobby, bitchy, nasty, snotty, canat take care of their own kids and extremely cheap and back stabbing. Sure there are some bad nannies but the good outweighs the bad while the prejudiced moms and dads outweigh the real ones.
ReplyDeleteWhat in God's Name would someone living in Brooklyn have to be snobby about? The superiority of the subway line?
ReplyDelete8:32 Nanny pslope, just how many employers have you had to be able to make this statement: the predudiced moms and dads outweigh the real ones. And just to clarify your statement further, define "real ones". Evidently you are one of those "low rent" nannies they talk about on here.
ReplyDeleteI live in Westport, Ct so when I hear "Park Slope", I think ghetto, rats, crime and the smell of piss in public transportation. If I lived there, I doubt I would judge anyone. Even the bum on the street.
ReplyDeleteI think that when I think of anywhere in NY.
ReplyDeleteI think the official odor of NYC is sugar donuts and pee, usually wafting up from Penn Station. But remember! When it rains, New York makes its own gravy. Can Westport do that? I didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteWell, there's nothing like a fresh sugar donut. Yum
ReplyDeleteAnd exactly what are we discussing? Cars or the nanny's conduct?
ReplyDeleteI have an 85 Pariesenne that I adore...It's the Pontiac version of my dream car, a Chevy Caprice...Big, gas tank in the back...I love it..
Oh...we're discussing the nanny's conduct. Does the car she is driving really matter? Nope...Yet, making out with her boyfriend while working is unacceptable. My boyfriend used to come and see me at my job in daycare usually on my breaks and then he would leave...My class would often as for my boyfriend to come and visit them and a few of the parents liked my boyfriend as well.
It's OK to have a visit from a significgant other once in a while....
8:39 I think the biggest difference between your post and the OP is that your boyfriend comes to your controlled daycare situation and the children are always supervised around him. Not that he's a bad person, but he is a stranger and the parents didn't sign on to have strangers going in and out.
ReplyDeleteThe OP states that this little girl is getting schlepped around Brooklyn as an afterthought while her nanny hangs out all day with her boyfriend, making out and even at one point, driving. Do you think he had a baby seat in his car? This girl is in the complete opposite situation as the kids at your daycare - completely unprotected, and not having a structured play and learning day with other kids to socialize with. It's scary and sad. Who knows what the parents expect of this nanny, but I bet it's not what she's doing.
Its unfortunate that you have had bad experience with nannies. I am a nanny and I am excellent one at that. Yes I do see other nannies on their cell phones while at the park with kids but that is the most dangerous thing ever. I really dont understand how a nanny can be completely aware of the child/children he/she is caring for. When it comes to people's children that is something I have no tolerance for because it can cause to get into serious problems.
