  1. I read these and as a nanny I agree 100% on everything they said. It is especially important to check references and ask the correct questions. I can't stress that enough. I made sure my current employers checked my references and did a background check on me. I also had all my degrees and certificates available so they could see I actually had the training.

However, I do not approve of nannycams without notice. I may be a professional, but treat me like one and just inform the nanny that you have a cam, honestly, most of us just don't care.

  2. I would be horrified if I was a nanny in someone's home and they had a nanny cam with out me knowing it and I spilled something on my shirt one day and took it off and the nanny cam caught me half nude on camera.

  3. Great Site. I heard about the work Love Our Children does from Jane Doe months ago.
I do however disagree with using nanny cameras or services like "where's my baby". Ask yourself how you will explain to your child that you prepared for the possibility that he or she was abused by setting up these things. In reality, a parent who goes through the right steps and listens to his or her own instinct is likely to find a trustworthy nanny!

  4. If you find that nanny that works with your family, if you find a nanny that you personally like and that your children like, a nanny you can 100 percent trust that your children are safe in her company and your children's interests are her job #1, you have found a rare diamond. Treasure her.
I thought my children so incredible that all future nannies would love them and regard them just as much as nanny "B". Nanny B asked for assistance to return to get her masters degree (at night which would have taken at least three years) and my husband convinced me that she was out of line. So we chose to terminate her.
9 nannies later. 9 nannies later, 3 nanny cameras and 3 private investigators- I have a nanny I trust with my children implicitly-however I honestly don't like her. The children like to her but she grates on my nerves after 5 minutes.
I am a single mother now. I have been divorced for 1 year and a half.
Don't expect your husbands to value the love and affection your children need as much as you. We are biologically different. Once you decide to be a mother, you can't give 45 percent. You have to give 100 percent. Or more, since men are naturally more self centered and narcissitic and rarely able to give 100 percent.

  6. Just so there is clarification, I am not the Nanny B 12:47 is talking about..I posted first and then she posted. Anyways, I just want to say that I to went back to school to get my degree in Elementary Education. I realized I did not have the right to ask my employers to change their schedule so I gave a 6 month notice. After 1 week with a new nanny, my bosses begged me to stay with them and were willing to work at my schedule. I now work 60 some hours a week with class two nights a week. I leave early on those 2 nights and we have a second person come in for about 2 hours a day to help out while mom is finishing up work. Not only am I happier that I was able to stay with my "family" but they are happy that they continued to have someone they trust with their precious children. Sometimes it takes sacrafices for all, but in the end it is worth it.

  7. The Peace that comes with having the right nanny- you know- how everything just falls in to place- is worth most any sacrifice. And I say this as one with nanny envy as I have two good friends who have model nanny types. Myself, I have yet to find that life changing nanny- but I do hope she is out there.

  8. sad & random fact:
1/2 the parents out there don't understand what it means to nurture a child. 1/2 of the nannies out there also don't understand the true meaning of the word nurtured. There are a lot of children out there who are left unnurtured. They soldier on but their spirit dies. Their creativity evaporates along with their exhuberance and hope.
Nurture your children. Or find someone who comprehends the true meaing of nurture. The most proper and loving version of the word.

  10. I didn't even catch that. I guess i subconsciously saw your moniker and applied it to describe the situation with the nanny we lost. (first name started with a B).

  11. Although I think that nanny cams are something that the parents need to decide about, I think they should tell the nanny. If you don't trust your nanny enough to tell her/him that she/he is being taped than you should not let them watch your kids.

    Use your instincts.

  12. People who do not want to raise their children should not have children. Children today are treated like toys. People have children and then pay someone else to spend all day with them ,sometimes nights too, and they only "take them out to play with them" when it is convenient for them. This is what everyone should be talking about. Why so many mothers out there don't seem to REALLY want to spend time with their own children. I personally think that you should not have children if your children will be spending the majority of their time with someone else other then his/her parents. It is unfair to put children in this situation and very selfish. I personally did not have my children to pay someone else to raise them. This is what is wrong with Americs today. America has too many unnurtered little souls out there.
