4th Avenue in San Diego, California

Received Friday, December 1, 2006
Approximately 9:30 A.M. southbound on 4th. Avenue between Broadway and market Street in San Diego, driving a Mazda Tribute in white with a gray bumper, lower door and exterior. I saw a woman reached in the back seat and smacked the older child. 5?6?7? And she struck the boy hard. I saw the child's head flop when the nanny smacked him.The nanny was white, 40's, dark hair pulled into a pony tail and she had bright red finger nail polish. My thought was that it was a babysitter, but this could of course be a mother, passing by in a car doesn't give me the best vantage point. But if it was you and you're the mom-that was most definitely uncalled for. In which case I hope your husband sees this and knows you are hitting children.
*the little girl was sitting behind the driver and wearing a head band and something pastel (?). the little boy had dark hair and was wearing something blue. I wish I had gotten the lic. plate.

  1. It may indeed have been the mother. Who knows what the child had been doing. Maybe he was harming his little sister. There is only so much you can do when driving. You do not know what caused the mom to react that way. Maybe the child was cursing at mom. If it was the mother, then it's none of your business how she corrects her child as long as no mark is left, and child isn't hurt by her correcting. By the way do you ever try to drive with a bunch of screaming, and fighting kids in the back seat? More then likely it was the mom why assume that it was a nanny?

  2. i assumed it was the nanny because that is the feeling i got. she wasnt connected in anyway. i didnt even think nanny. i thought babysitter.

what's next? do you have tips for parents on how they can sucesfully hit their kids w/o leaving marks?

  3. Tips for parents on how they can sucesfully hit their kids w/o leaving marks?

Easy --- don`t hit them very hard.

  4. wait-
are you the mom being feautured on Supernanny this monday? Should readers tune in to see you get schooled?

    ReplyDelete
  5. you are not allowed to assume when you are making accusations!! You simply DO NOT KNOW if this is a mom or a nanny. How the hell can you make a call like" she was not connected?" People like you make this site a joke and that's a shame!!!! I have a 14 year old son and I'll tell you what I have spanked him when he was younger and though I have yet to pop him in the head ..if he ever swore or smarted off or was hitting a younger sibling in the car you can better beleive my short little arm would find it's way into that back seat!!!! Sounds like she connected just fine to me!!!!

  6. L..you are fabulous!

  7. NP here, are you or the 2 of you posting from Mississippi? "Popping" your kid?
I have to imagine that people in San Diego, perhaps have more class & intelligence & are less likely to "pop" a child for "swearing" or "smarting off".

I think she said it might have been the mother. Or the nanny.

You two need to stop beating your kids! It's plain craaaaaaazy!

  8. Most people in San diego are from across the border ..are you kidding me with this "they have more class?" Nanny Or mom..not your business!!! If you can hear the situation and plainly see that abuse is happening.. then of course.. report it..this site is not for reporting what you "think you saw". Just as was stated earlier...who knows what that young man may have said or done..we were not privy to that information. BTW.. Bravo you are one in the heard of many on the "pc" band wagon..you go!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. if i make it my business, it becomes my business.
i'm no part of any pc bandwagon.
which reminds me, have you seen the 4th passenger? i'm thinking of offering a reward.

  10. I don't agree with hitting your child: i have an infant and I would never hit her and don't plan to when she gets older.
That being said, how the hell could you tell if it was the nanny or the mom?
You have a screw loose there's no way you could tell by a "feeling."
    You're a nutjob, lady..

  11. she said it could have been the mom, just that she thought it wasn't. Either way smacking a kid isn't right and it's abuse marks or not, I hope those of you who think it's not get caught and locked up. That being said, I know I'd rather someone post a 'may be the mom, or a sitter' than not post at all. If it was a sitter then perhaps a mom would recognize it and do something. If not what harm was done? Oh and she never said nanny so get off her case.

    ReplyDelete
  12. i hope your husband knows? what is up with that? you're condemning someone for smacking a kid, when you saw it yourself and didn't report it? or do you think commenting on a blog counts as reporting?

    ReplyDelete
  13. np- this blog reminds me of the times I witnessed things and didn't act because I didn't have the chance or courage to at the time but lost sleep over it that night.

it's better than not doing anything.

    ReplyDelete
  14. of course it was not the a nanny. you bigoted classists. a six or seven yr old can definitely "tell" so there's no way a nanny would dare touch him. duh.

    ReplyDelete
  15. keep telling yourself that. whatever it takes to sleep at night. dont let yourself imagine that children keep secrets about people who abuse them.

  16. 4th passenger?? You idiot!! Nobody knows what the hell you are talking about! Sarcasm is a fabulous tool...learn how to use it!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I got the 4th passenger thing. only because I live in NYC. The fact that someone called you an idiot for saying that really made it funny for me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Want to explain to rest of us who don't live in NYC??????????

    ReplyDelete
  19. yeah. ok.

  20. When I was 8 my mother wacked me across the face with a dish towel after I stuck my tongue out at her...I never dared to do it again.
What my mother did was a bit extreme but kids use to be a lot better behaved when they knew one was coming if they would do something out of line.

  21. ignorance! to think that is how one must show a child consequence- with physical pain. you are so ignorant. there are other ways. if you cannot use your own mind to find those other ways, read a book.
What notable child care specialist reccomends spanking or backhanding children? Do tell.
And what about the fact that 93 percent of people in prison were spanked/disciplined physically.

    WELL?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Your 93% is crap!! Show me the statistics!! You are full of it!!!
And if you are telling me that just because it's written in a book makes it true..then you are the ignorant one!!! How dare you tell the last poster to use their own mind..that's obviously what they are doing,as oppossed to you who has to read a book to handle your children!!!!!!!!!And you want notable childcare specialist..every granma & grandpa for the last 100 years!!! Up until the last 30years children were spanked and they had respect for authority!!! I don't care how you argue it...it's true!!! And as for your prison stats..would you please share with us the website so that we can look that up!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I was spanked.I do not steal, rape, kill or beat my children!!!!!!!!!I am not in prison.I have never been in jail.I am a mother and wife.I have a job.
My children were spanked. They are both college graduates with great jobs!!
You failed to list statistics for those of us that do not use being spanked as a crutch for our wrong-doings!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. My husband just walked in the room.. I read to him the last few posts..his comment.."I was spanked and I stll like getting spanked"!

And to Devon...you are a clown!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. So, your argument for spanking a child is that it can evolve in to fun and deviant bedroom fun for your husband???

    ReplyDelete
  26. Let's find your sense of humor! The point is..this is ridiculous! It is up to the parent to decide weather spanking or time outs work best!! I am a nanny. I have peermission to spank my charges. Weather or not I do does not matter..what matters is that it is my business!!!There is a distinct difference between spanking and beating a child!!You cannot say "under all circumstances it is wrong" You can say ,for you, under all circumstances it is wrong but no one has a right to tell me how to raise my children! Nor do they have the right to tell me how to do my job!!!!! I think timeouts are about aS LAME AS IT GETS!!!!!!! I don't however tell you it is wrong! It is obviously your method of discipline.Let's report abuse not a spanking or slap on the hand!!! There are children out there that truly are "abused"!!!There is a diiference .

    ReplyDelete
  27. The thought of a nanny spanking a child makes me angry! Certainly, you realize there is a better way.

    ReplyDelete
  28. BTW my husband says"hell yes"!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Certainly YOU realize it is NONE of your business!

    ReplyDelete
  30. who is 12:01 talking to?
    Not me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Does everyone know that your "Notable childcare specialist" (to quote another poster) say the age of reason is 8! How then can you tell me that it is possible to REASON with a 14 month old child? You can;t but you can use guilt..which is exactly what a time out is! You use guilt..make the child feel bad because MOmmy & Daddy are upset that you did that. That in my opinion is horrific but it is your choice! I use a swat on the butt..my children feel no guilt! Yours grow up worried that they will dissapoint you... my children do not have to spend time worrying about such things! They are kids they do not need the guilt!

    ReplyDelete
  32. 12:01 is talking to the person she mimmicked Eienstien!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. You are an idiot. Go back to your dungeon and lock the door.
I certainly can't reason with you!
    Shame? Are you serious????????????
By your argument then, you are teaching a child that if someone isn't doing something that they should be, they get hit. There is no method to your madness. I know the age of reason. You are just an absolute idiot and I absolutely despise you. Are you in the midwest?
Have you heard of the word, "no". Really you can say that without "swatting someone on the butt". But then you'd be all dressed up in your bondage gear and have nothing much to do. Idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You are absolutley right!!! You certainly cannot reason with me..to that you would have to have a bit more wit and a lot more brians! I like spanking and you like name calling!! So lets call a duck a duck..BTW You are Getting pretty defensive over a dis-agreement on a blog...hope you don't display this kind of anger when guilting your child into the time out hotseat!!! You need to understand that weather you like it or not..people will always spank children..you have NO control over it and it really does not phase us that you dispise us or that you resort to name calling as oppossed to some witty banter!!! Once you think you can match wits..maybe we can try this again someday. But for now...ZZZZZ you are boring me!! I can go to the park and listen to 2nd graders call names!!! You have to do better than that to convince me you know more than me. Try a debate team..you often have to rally for something you oppose..helps you think... It would do you good.. goodluck! Now, if you'll excuse me..I am going to go down to the dungeon and unchain my husband..you really got him fired up with all the S&M talk!!

  35. Still waiting for those stats .Where is the website?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????That is what I thought!!! Someone just threw out a number to back up the "OMG spanking turns you into a murdering, beating, abusive theif!!"Put your money where your mouth is!! Show us the site!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. New Poster-
What makes you think that the only alternative to spanking a child is some kind of weird guilting situation? You are giving us all more of a window into your As the person up above said- there is a better way. My way may not be the best way but spanking is the wrong way.

    ReplyDelete
  37. .......more of a window into your own childhood than I think you mean to. As the person above said...

(I unintentionally erased a sentence in the post above)

    ReplyDelete
  38. That is your opinion!

    ReplyDelete
  39. BTW, my childhood was great..we were a family of 10!! We were all spanked..not abused..and we all grew up to have healthy families and great kids of our own... oh and here is the biggee..none of us are in prison.1 out of 8 kids had a drug problem..lasted about a yr..that was the big "Thing" in our family..So if you are looking for some sick situation to evolve regarding my childhood..you are barking up the wrong tree!! My parents did a great job..my grandparents helped and all four of them spanked us!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Still waiting for those stats!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. 93 percent?? No way! Besides these are people in jail..they are bad..really think they are going to tell the truth??? How about.."lets say I was spanked so people will think.>uh..okay..he was spanked..no wonder he raped that 6 yr old and robbed the Circle-K!!" You probably think he that person deserves 3 strikes too!! You all make me ill!!I sure hope the majority of you don't vote!

    ReplyDelete
  42. At familyeducation.com you will see that "4out of 5 people beleive that spanking is an effective form of discipline" That is a pretty high number.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Still no word from the bigmouth with the prison stats??? 93% my as@!!!!! You people are so full of SH!!!!T. You argue your case then when backed against the wall for facts you run!!! I am suggesting that the person who posted the 93% is a liar!!!!!!!!bet if you were spanked as a child you would have stopped lying by now!!

  44. In case you all care I saw the Dr. Gould fanboy put an ad on CL for LES NYC. Which is odd, because isn't she anti CL? So how would she find it?
