Corner of Sacramento and Laguna at the bus stop.
Nanny: Asian, 30-40 yrs. old.
Children: 1 caucasian boy ~3-4 yrs. old.... caucasian infant 9 mos. -
1yr old.

My wife and I were walking toward the bus stop when we noticed that the
3-4 year old boy was carrying the infant horizontally across his
outstretched arms and really struggling with the weight of the infant.
The 3-4 year old was shifting the infant around, and having real trouble
such that we though the infant would be dropped on the cement sidewalk
(head landing first). The nanny saw what was happening, but turned
around to wait for the bus.

I have a 6-year old and have seen plenty of falls.... this one would
have been really bad. I was really afraid for that infant. I was
astounded the nanny saw what was going on and didn't see the potential
danger there.

  1. was the nanny disabled? Was she carrying a giant suitcase? What was she doing?

  2. There is nothing wrong with swooping in and taking the infant out of the hands of the other child and handing it over to the nanny! A polite comment like "Whew! That was close!" would get the point across without putting the nanny on the defensive. But forget the nanny's feelings, how would you feel to see a helpless infant crack its head on the concrete as you were certain it would have? There were two of you there to help. DO SOMETHING PEOPLE!! Jeez!

  3. I agree. Do something! Don't just sit and back and "hope" nothing bad happens. Grow a pair!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS?
RACE IS PART OF THEIR PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? STOP IMPLYING THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR RACE. ON A DATING PROFILE, YOU LIST YOUR DAMN RACE. IT IS PART OF YOUR PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION. THE ONLY SHAME HERE IS BEING INDENTIFIED AS A LESS THAN STELLAR CHILDCARE PROVIDER!

  8. They are mentioning the race because it helps to identify the nanny and children to the parents who may be reading this.

    Kind of Duh, yes?

  9. The race is a pretty important characteristic to identify who these people are in the event the parents are looking here!

Kind of a big fat DUH, don't you think?
