I bet the $4 per hour lists are not looking for professional nannies. Since you have a degree and special needs experience that would be a good avenue to try where you could still work with kids but make a little more. And that's why I mentioned river city sitters because they are the "agency" most families in the area use but still through them it's usually 11 to 12/hr you will make. On a side note maybe you can offer ABA services in that area. Yes it's true you are not gonna get paid anywhere close to as you are in Manhattan, but the cost of living is I'm sure way less here then there. My advice for you would be to look in Richmond for nanny jobs as your not likely to find quality ones in colonial heights or the counties night around it. It's only maybe a 25 minute drive to Richmond so will be worth better and higher paying jobs. Look up river city sitters and sign up with them if you want as they tend to find quality families looking to pay decent for nannies. Around here 10 to 12 an hour is pretty average for a nanny job with one or two kids. Depending on what part of Richmond you work in you may be able to get 15/hr but like I said around here is nothing like new York and you can't expect to be paid that close to what you made there. nor sure why your moving this way but hopefully it all goes smooth and good luck. Ps also check out care.com....I find sitter city a joke and don't think any good families use that site to find nannies.
